Bikes: 1972 Peugeot UO-8, Strawberry conversion

ISO 48cm (East Hill size ) road frame (or a complete bike)

My sister has decided that she doesn't like riding her cruiser (looks like a mid-'70s Raleigh, and about 40 pounds) around anymore and wants something lighter and faster - so I decided to build one up for her birthday. I'd prefer if it took 700s just for ease of finding tubes and tires. She's about 5'2 with short legs, I haven't been able to put her on a bike to confirm but she said that she measured herself and put it into an online calculator and it told her a 48.

Budget is something of an issue, and I'm not looking for a Colnago. If I could get something that isn't hi-ten and preferably not old French (my stock of French threaded/sized parts is low), I'd be happy.

I'm in NYC without a car, although I can get on Metro-North/NJ Transit/rent a Zipcar if it comes to it.

ALSO:

In need of two 1" threaded headsets - I'd dearly love Dura-Ace HP-7400s, mine is decent on the outside but pitted to hell. Other, interesting old Japanese headsets a possibility too. Have one of those damn 600 ones with the scalloped nut that's impossible to find the tool for, so not one of those
Have cash and a small stash of parts for tradin'.

There were 2 nice 49 cm complete bikes on eBay not 2-3 days ago.

ISO a 1" threaded fork with at least 7" of steerer, preferably for 700c wheels. Bonus points for a polished or chrome fork.

That's it. Overpriced though, and I refuse to deal with Bikeville (mainly as they seem to refuse to bother with pesky customers).

WTB by extension: Mixte in northern NJ area, small frame for a diminutive lass.

Expl: I had a Dunelt for sale and a Panasonic, both womens, both 19" frames. A prospective buyer in northern NJ needs about an 18" frame or so, and she asked me if I had one. I don't, but I recommended a mixte, and by way of explanation sent her a pic off a thread. She responded (in all caps), wants one, and is serious.

Perhaps someone in the know in northern NJ can point me to a source so I can point her to it.

IDÉAL SADDLE QUEST

I've been putzing with the Moto Le Champion and am a couple weeks from finished. I'd love to find a nice but reasonably priced Idéale 2001 or 90 to replace the current Turbo Hinault (offered as a partial trade).

Bikes: 1980's Bottecchia road bike. Daily ride. Purple with hot pink accents! 1950's Valencia club racer. 1960's Frejus rainy-day bike (60cm! anyone want to trade for a shorter frame?) 1980's Tommasini track bike.

I need a 1/4" length of brake bridge tubing to make patches for the brake bridge on my old battered track bike. Someone drilled it... TWICE! so I need to spend some time with my jeweler's saw and cut out four tiny circles. Really... just one-quarter of an inch will be all that I need. I'm willing to trade, if there's any bit of hardware you need that I have, and will also fit in a small envelope.

You might want to post that on the Framebuilders forum - I dare say you'll have some in no time.

Bikes: 1940s Fothergill, 1959 Allegro Special, 1963? Claud Butler Olympic Sprint, Lambert 'Clubman', 1974 Fuji "the Ace", 1976 Holdsworth 650b conversion rando bike, 1983 Trek 720 tourer, 1984 Counterpoint Opus II, 1993 Basso Gap, 2010 Downtube 8h, and...

I need one Raleigh fender nut-and-bolt set. I'm talking about the bolt with a hole in it, and the nut that threads onto it. There's probably a washer or two in there; I'll need them too, but can scrounge if necessary.

I also need the clip that holds the bottom/front end of a Raleigh fender to the bridge that connects the chain stays.

P.S.: Also looking for a pair of stays for a third (final)-gen Raleigh Sprite. For 27" box-section fenders.

Someone liberated the rear reflector on my Twenty. So I am in the market for a replacement.
This is the best pic I have. Its a 1978.
At least they didn't scratch the paint to much.

ISO steel frame road bike for a guy about 6' tall with 32" inseam, in the $100 range. Doesn't have to be fancy or high-end for its time, but it should be clean and in ridable condition (I can put on new tires, but I don't want to grease bearings). Friction shifters, quill stems, etc., all okay (as long as nothing's stuck). I'm pairing it with a fine Raleigh Marathon mixte for my DIL--this bike will be for my son--so I'd like there to be something special about it (color, style, whatever).

I'll take a garage sale flip, and can pick up in a 150+/- radius of the NW corner of Arkansas (Tulsa, Springfield, MO, Little Rock, etc.). Will go a little farther for the right bike at the right price.

I know THE bike is out there. PM me please!

Karen
