Otto,

'Robbietunes' pointed me in your direction. I have a pair of wheels, Mavic MA40 rims (front has almost no brake wear while the rear has very acceptable wear), Campagnolo Super record BSA-threaded hubs (just repacked with grade 25 bearings and Mobil 1 synthetic grease) and Continental tires. 1 other member is showing interest, if he passes they'll be availble.

How about a 60cm Rossin Record Road with Colombus SL tubing? Its all white with chrome fork and has a Campy Record headset Campy BB and a SR Laprade seatpost.

I ask again, anybody have a pair of Rigida CLINCHER Rims 27x 1-1/4. I was just sold a pair that were just plain old style rims. I now have 6 of them. If you aren't sure what clincher rims are, don't reply. I thought that here of all places people would know what a clincher rim was. I have only myself to blame, I didn't ask for a picture, it would have saved me $50.00.

so now you have six CLINCHER rims. A clincher rim is a rim that takes a clincher tire, as opposed to a sew-up tire, no more, no less

Yea, very funny, I guess you are not old enough to remember rims before CLINCHERS.

A clincher is a tire. What you're looking for is a hook edge rim.

You should specify that you are looking for Rigida rims with a hooked edge. I've got some Rigidas like yours that have smooth sidewalls on the inside edge. They are for clincher type tires.

Maybe do what I do....buy the tires, put them on.
If they don't come off when you put air in them, they work.

He swore that the rims had a hooked inside edge, but they are as smooth as a baby's but.

+1! You never said anything about hooked rims before. Are you sure you know what " clincher " rims are?

nah, guess my [then] new '72 Gitane purchased with those nasty grooved Rigida clincher rims doesn't qualify me as old enough.

From this forums definations;

Clinchers, (what 95% of us use) are your standard hook and bead set-up where the tire actually "clinches" on to the rim hook from the tube pressing against it.

I'm not certain who is responsible for that definition, but it is quite commonly accepted that there are two general types of rims - tubulars, and clinchers. There are several varieties of clinchers - one of which is the hook and bead that you are evidently looking for.

If there's a lesson here, it is the old adage that a picture is worth a thousand words. The one word "clinchers" leaves a lot of room for differing interpretations.

ISO: Alex X2100 "Cross" 700c rim or front wheel, black spokes/hub preferred. To match a rear wheel going on a Shogun 300 frame. This is a 622x19 rim, and I haven't found another rim quite that wide. A link to a US vendor would help (I can't find one, and I got no reply from my email to www.alexrims.com).

Cheers,

tcpasley

Still searching for the ever elusive Weinmann concave rim in 700C.
I need another one to make a pair for my old touring bike.
Better yet if its a 40 spoke, but any 36 spoke will do fine!

Brakes or brake hoods. I have the Dura Ace BL-7401 brake levers. I'm looking for either the hoods for these, or can also buy the whole levers and hoods model BL-7401 or BL-7402. I can pay you via paypal or other options.

Thanks, Allan

I think I dated someone who met all the definitions. A real clincher. Not glued together very well, though.

Thanks Rob, but more digging in the bin turned up a bolt, and a skewer...........who knew.

I do now have a recently acquired wheel and seat QR set in a nice neon blue if anyone needs it. I swear they were a different color in the pic before I bid

ISO: Sora or Tiagra triple crankset for Octalink V2 BB

Wanted: Sora or Tiagra triple crankset for Octalink V2 BB

I scored a real bargain on an Octalink V2 splined bottom bracket, so I'm looking for a triple road crank to go along with it. It looks like Octalink V2 was mainly a MTB idea, but there were some V2 Sora and Tiagra road cranksets made. I believe the Shimano part numbers are FC-33?? for Sora and FC-44?? for Tiagra.

I was hoping one of y'all perhaps has upgraded to Ultegra or Dura-Ace components and need to dispose of your old V2 crankset.

Bikes: Schwinn Traveler, Chimo Concourse, Next mountain bike, all crap!

Want to buy:

Frame, frameset or complete bike with chrome lugs. I want to build a classy bike. Thinking Brooks, elk wrap, white leather toe straps......that kind of thing. I really want a '70's Paramount or Bottecchia but I don't really have that kind of money. Maybe an older Panasonic or something like that.

Anyway, let me know what you've got! Thanks.

Oh yeah, I'm 6'1" so looking for a 58cm frame or more and I live in Milwaukee WI.

Keep this in mind when going octalink. Shimano only produces dura-ace BBs for octalink and they cost $100 a pop, so suplly of cheep BBs is very limited.
