Why oh why do we have nothing but welds these days? Has all the artisans of the world left? (No offense to skilled welders)

Mine, but the De Rosa pic is not of mine & I don't have that Eisentraut anymore. Way to small at 45 cm & I traded it off when my grandaughter outgrew it. Sometimes lug lining really enhances things but all to often it seems to turn out badly.

So many...beautiful lugs! I feel like Daisy looking at Jay Gatsby's shirts in The Great Gatsby, weeping at the sheer beauty of them.

I know. It wasn't actually in the dumpster yet, but I got it through a "freecycling" listing from someone who was ready to toss it. She was storing it for a friend who'd moved away, and she was completely clueless about bikes. Funny thing is, so was I. I was looking to get into road cycling by finding a free junker to fix up and learn on. It was only once I brought it into Yellow Jersey and started doing some research that I realized what a rare, high quality find it is.

I'm trying to take good care of it. I just finished a full winter restoration (pictures here).

Here is some unusual lugwork, on yet another you-know-what. Photo courtesy of Vienna-based "Puchultima." I am guessing this one dates from circa 1950, making it about my age (and Harald "Hary Capo" Cap's).

55/Rad, could you tell us about your photo setup?

ALso, did the Pinarello need much polishing after the paint was stripped? I have a Samson that is getting chippy on the seatstays, and so I'm considering stripping the rear triangle. Leap of faith, I suppose.
