Bikes: Seriously downsizing.
The one's on my Voyageur seem the same to a point. Shifting up to larger gears is okay, but shifting back down seems to be all in the last inch or so of travel. I imagine it's because of the friction of being under the wrap on randonneur bars. They also seem really hard to move, maybe I just have them too tight possibly?,,,,BD
I liked the short, wide paddles so much I put them on my Shimano barcons as well. Maybe not pretty, but easy to grab and not so long that you hit them with your knees.

I mounted a set of Shimano Arabesque levers to them. They look and work great. The only thing I didn't like about them is the bolt hole to attach the levers is 5mm, and all my thumbscrews are smaller, so I had to use buttonhead bolts. I'll be heading to the hardware store for something better as I would like to be able to adjust the tension on the fly without having to use any tools.
Update: I figured out that quick release skewers are 5mm too so I sacrificed a couple of the plastic end nuts to the cause. Bolted them on with a couple 5x30mm hex bolts and used Threadlocker Blue on the end of the bolt threads to keep them from coming undone. Looks great and tension is easily adjustable (provided you didn't get any thread locker on the nut).

Does anyone have experience with old school Campagnolo shift levers and the Rivendell (or other) barcon adaptors?

If you pick up a set of these pods:
https://www.rivbike.com/webalog/shift...urs/17068.html
They will allow you to use your original DT shifters. You will still need cable stops:
https://www.rivbike.com/webalog/shift...urs/17045.html
Now you are up to $39 and will need cables
Nashbar has (9 speed) Dura-Ace bar ends for $69 complete with cable stops and cables:
https://www.nashbar.com/profile.cfm?c...s%20%2D%20Road
They work great in Friction Mode..... If you are looking for an inexpensive way out, throw a $25-30 bid on some Suntours, as mentioned not as sexy but you can't beat thier action.

BTW - I also ran the 8 speed wheelset on the Fuji for awhile in friction mode and they were sweet - smooth as silk.
