Oh, baloney. You've made a comfortable home here.

Also, I like the white tires on the Atala, too!

The Scott Drop-In bar is a nice touch.

I'm not a strong enough rider to rock the look. Also, they're cheapo Vitoria Randonneur IIs--awful rolling resistance--like pedaling though sand. So apparently I'm also not strong enough a rider to ride those tires even if they weren't white.

1982 Specialized Sequoia with a hodge podge of Shimano parts.

This is a test build to figure out the fit and make sure I like the ride of it before sinking more money into this bike. I got the frame and fork with headset, brakes and seatpost, and I bought the white saddle in a moment of new bike enthusiasm. Everything else came out of the parts bin.

I can't wait to get a proper quill stem on it, and I think it desperately needs a silver crankset. I'm thinking maybe a Sugino XD2 triple, a long cage Deore LX rear derailleur and some 5703 105 shifters, but all of that will have to wait until I have a lot more money to spend.

Made some changes to the MX Leader.
>Replaced the wheels with White Industries T11 > Sapim CX-Ray > H Plus Son Archetypes that I had built when I built up the Lemond
>Added some brown sidewall Panaracer Gravel Kings in the 26c width - which barely clears the rear caliper due to how low the brake bridge is
>Change the saddle to a Selle San Marco Concor Light
>Swapped the 50/34 rings for 52/36
>Added 9000 skewers
>Swapped the 6800 shifters and rear derailleur for Dura-Ace 9001 shifters and 9000 rear derailleur.

Natural light pictures when I get in a nice afternoon ride.

Saving the 6800 bits and Brooks C13 that I took off for my new Thrive.

How do those roll? I desperately want something better than Vittoria Randonneur IIs I have now.

BTW--Classy looking bike.

It may happen, but this bike needs to get in line. Reports on this site say it'll only fit 650x38, and that looks about right. The wheels for this build were taken from my 1981 Schwinn Voyageur 11.8, and I think that one will fit 650x42's with even better brake reach than this one. The Schwinn's problem is lingering effects from a previous crash which even after straightening the fork and rolling out the bulges in the frame tubes has left it with about a 75 degree head tube angle so I'll have to see how it handles. Candidate number 2 (with the Sequoia being 3) is a 1982 Trek 614. Unlike the Sequoia and the V'guer the Trek will need much longer reach brakes (or some braze ons), but I think it has good tire clearance and geometry.

Looks great! You should have hit me up for the FSA Gossamer triple I had installed on it before!

Funny, I actually have a Gossamer triple that I was thinking about putting on this bike, but at least until I get new shifters it will stay on the bike it's on now.

I want to install brifters on this japanese bike from 1978, but I realized I can't use the common adapters for the downtube since the frame doesn't have the brazed-on bits. The original friction shifters are clamped on. Any suggestions?

@curbowman There are adapted Huret clamps converted for use for downtube stops. I picked up a pair off you-know-where. They do the job and look nice to boot.

This: https://www.ebay.com/itm/122309543720

It is a suntour cable stop intended for bar end shifters, but will work just swell with STIs. No adjustment barrel, but your derailleur will have one.

Veloce is butter. I sometimes do a double take to see if the chain shifted, the mechs are so smooth.

Been awhile since I've posted anything here. I picked up this Team Miyata last summer and did some touch up on the frame. In the end, it's sort of a "back of the refrigerator hot dish" since I had most of the parts already. Finally finished it off with the new bar tape last night. So far, just a brief shakedown ride up and down the street. Initial impression is that the frame rides nicely yet responds quickly when the hammer is dropped (little flex under power).
