Here it is... I was looking for the "before and after" thread! 
As seen below, this is my '85 Fuji Del Rey right as soon as I brought it home off of that college kid from the Craigslist ad:
After a few minor upgrades to make it my own, this is the latest and greatest photo that I just took, just a few moments ago:
I'm loving this classic "old school" steel road bike! The 27" Ukai steel rims (w/ 36 hole spokes) are still true and have no issues. Why the kid had his LBS put on Kenda K161 'cross tires on, I have no idea, but what the hell... They work and let me go anywhere without worry!

- Forte Softail road/touring seat - the original Fuji seat (as seen in the first photo) was painful!
- Transit large style saddlebag to hold wallet, car keys, etc...
- Novara gel tape in "Natural" from REI to replace the extremely worn out, torn, and frayed, original cloth handlebar wrap.
- Forte toe clips & straps from my LBS to add to the Wellgo platform pedals.

Thanks... For $120 bucks, I got a heck of a bike. It was the college kid's dad's original bike. The kid was graduating and didn't need it anymore and the dad didn't want it back, so he put it on Craigslist, and I snatched it up quickly! It's BIG as it's a 25" frame. My LBS had me lower both the seat and stem down about 1" or so as I am not 6'3" or 6'4" or something. But at 6'0", it is doable and allows me a lot of room to stretch out. The Forte seat is also mounted a little bit forward too. Even with me at 6'0" with the 25" frame, if I stand on my toes when stopped at a traffic light, the bar doesn't interfere with the, um, "family jewels".

So do I, why did you remove such lovely gear? Looks like 600 tri-color, but I could be wrong. It is a lovely bike.

New wheels anyway, I had the 105 stuff spare... Plus I love riding hills. Hill gears are the only big difference between now & then. I do the steepest street in my city (ayr street) almost every day so I don't miss the old 23-39 too much.

The hoods were in bad shape. Very dried out, so I figured I didn't have much to lose. I started by removing/cleaning the white hoods. Then I sprayed several light layers of Plasti Dip onto the hoods. But I was still getting little holes in the top of the plastic dip due to the uneven surface of the dried out hoods. I then went over the Plastic Dip with some fast drying silicone caulking, which I may have brushed on with a nylon brush if I recall correctly. So far so good, and, with the new coating on the hoods, they actually clean up really easily with Simple Green
Yes, it's got a heavy coat of wax. There are a lot of areas where the paint has almost entirely faded away. The bike spent far too many years outside, against a wall, unused.

The PO must have had a thing for duct tape and accessories, plus I think I know why he parked it in the garage before the knubs were worn off of the original Schwinn tires- the derailleurs were way out of adjustment, making shifting a real challenge. - A bike shop issue?
So It's now a casual, ride around town, put the kickstand down and talk to people ride. Put a few miles on it today and was impressed by the smooth ride and easy handling. It's a shame Schwinn died.

I think I'm finally finished....snagged some good barcons recently....picked up a Nitto stem for 5$......had a nice seat stashed....found some bar tape that is almost a dead ringer for the paint......

This photo shows why I enjoy working on old bikes (ride a modern one too though, just like to ride). This is from my first 74 Raleigh International and this is the hub being polished. I purposely worked on one side first and got a photo before finishing the other side--I love how it shows the transformation. This bike is a very good rider and has good patina, evident by some of the pitting in the hub--but it cleaned up beautifully and gets lots of comments on group rides from the guys that remember this era.

Not too dramatic of a change...but...a Before and After nonetheless...my Tommasini Super Prestige...started in white on white with Dura Ace...
Now it has a couple color pops (particularly the handlebars...burgundy with greenish-grey twine)...and is full Campy...as an Italian should be!

Picked this Frame up pretty cheap. Tried selling it here on the forum with no bites. So I threw some parts on it hoping it would be easier to sell on my local craigslist. Turned out pretty good, great rider just way to big for me unfortunately.

This was a very interesting bike for me...I picked it up basically to flip it...good components, good frame, excellent price...but...I simply fell in love with it...so...moving it back to its own time (and country, with the Campy) became what I wanted for it.
