Come and get them
I have 5 bikes and about 5 sets of wheels that I dont have any desire to fix and I really dont want them to go to the trash heap. They are as follows: Schwinn Collegiate Sport, Nishiki Olympic, Univega (just frame and fork), Huffy Omni-10 (all blue with blue tires and grips), and no name schwinn. The wheels are a crap shoot. from what i can tell most are "schwinn approved" made in japan. I know the rules say that only 1 person can take 1 thing but maybe the governing body of Pay it forward will be willing to bend that rule a little in this case.
This is Local Pick up Only.
I'm moving out of my house and they need to be gone by May 31st.
Thank you have a nice day,

Bikes: I have some bikes
For Chicago C&Vers (local pickup only)
I have a few bike shipping boxes from a shipment of new bikes. These are brand name boxes that were used to ship 700c road/touring bikes. Perhaps you need one for an upcoming trip or eBay transaction?
Available for pickup tonight in Logan Square. Will be available after 7pm. PM me here with phone number if interested.
Cheers,
PD

I have a Shimano Tourney rear derailleur that I will ship for free to anyone in the US.
Not a great derailleur from what I understand but decent and I believe it is a stock item for late 70's Schwinns if anyone is looking to restore one of those.

Just PM me and it's yours.

I also have a set of wheels with tires that anyone local can have. They are 26 X 1 3/8 and came off of whatever Schwinn that tourney came off of. Most likely a 70's Varsity as they used that size. The hubs are Kunyu which was used on Schwinns of that era. TIres are in decent shape but aren't anything great. Anyone local just PM me and they are yours.

I'm new here... hi.
Does anyone have an old plastic oil cap for a SA hub laying around? I covered my metal cap with a valve cap with a piece of napkin stuffed in it (over the existing metal cap). Oily rims are no good.
PM me if anyone has one. I'd rather pay .35 cents for an envelope than $1.95+ shipping from an online bike shop.

I know putting in 'requests' for free stuff has a lot of potential to be pretty lame but I'm looking to build up a road bike (not a 'fixie'...a road bike) for the wife around a cool vintage frame & fork. Despite scouring Boston Craigslist on a daily basis, I can't seem to find anything that is small enough to suit her (she's 5'2"). If anyone has an old frame & fork laying around that measures around 19", please PM me!

In the meantime, did you see this ad that just popped up on Boston's CL?

After reading the last couple of posts, I believe there are some folks who don't get the idea of this thread. "Pay it forward" is for people who have stuff they want to unload, and offer it in exchange for shipping costs. If you are looking for handouts, contact the gov and tell them you are an insurance co., bank, auto manufacturer, etc and need a bailout. Your check will be along shortly.

How was asking if someone had something particular laying around "asking for a handout"? I would have gladly paid shipping costs. Thanks for the tip, Fissile. I'll be sure to take your bitter advice.

This is not the "Ask for stuff" thread...
To ask for stuff, please go into the for sale forum, and post in the ISO/For trade forum... ISO is short for "In Search Of" and that is the proper place to post the things for which you are searching.
If you have something to offer, THAT is the spirit of the pay it forward thread...
This forum is populated by several generous people willing to help... this is however not typically the right place to ask.

GONE to BobH.
Free vintage Campagnolo grab bag!
A friend gave me a late-80's road racing bike, I put modern parts on the frameset but the old Campy stuff I removed can be yours. I'm assuming it's all late-80's, but I'm not sure. Might not be a matching groupset. Parts are well used, but well taken care of - the guy who gave me the bike used to race. So, these aren't good for a showroom restoration, but are in good shape and polish up nicely. Threads on everything are good and the bottom bracket bearings spun perfectly before I removed it. Here's what you get:
Cranks - 170mm, don't know what kind but they say "170 STRADA 3" with a circle around the 3 on the back. 52/42 Campy chainrings, one chainring bolt is not original. No dust caps. Toe strap scuffs on the arms.
Bottom bracket - 68 - SS english thread 1.370" x 24tpi, crank bolts included
Rear derailleur - don't really know what to tell you about this, rear hub was 6 speed.
Front derailleur - clamp on
Brake calipers - single pivot, pads are cheapo Shimano.
That's it, no brake levers or hubs or anything. I'll pay shipping in the continental US, hope someone can put these parts to good use!
