Many thanks to longbeachgary for helping me out with some new Durano tires. College isn't getting cheaper! :twitchy:

You got them already?

No, not yet. Just thought I would mention it now though before I get buried in papers during finals next week :p

FREE for the cost of mailing:
a HL (hing lung or something?) made "Kalin" suspension seatpost from a Giant "comfort/recreation" bike; 29.2 diameter, adjustable preload (at bottom) and still seems to work.
Complete with somewhat rusty steel saddle clamp and rubber dust sleeve...will weigh about 1lb, 8oz. when packed up so you can calculate postage based on mailing from 94118.
Pick up in person for free (SF or down peninsula on weekend).

***CLAIMED***

Free project bike for anyone local to Fairfield County CT....

Raleigh singlespeed cruiser, unknown model, probably a Record. Has the "anniversary" headbadge so that puts it around 68-70. It has kinda cool GB Synchron brakes and a dyno front hub. Needs total rebuild.. pic to follow. Send a PM if interested.

No takers? Gotta clean out the basement.. Think she's going up on craigslist.

RubberLegs 12-16-13 12:17 PM

Cool! If I were local, I'd be all over that, be a nice retro rebuild. No one in MA!?!?!? She deserves a good home!

I'm going to be in the tristate area for the holidays. I'll gladly take that superbe (with dyno hub up front) off of your hands. Can you wait until around the 29th?

Unfortunately that wouldn't work for me- someone local claimed it about the same time I saw this post so I suppose it's a moot point!

Hey all, anybody want a Campy pushrod FD? Last item left from a part-out, no takers on eBay, so why not give it to some nice person from BF?

Despite my cleaning/lubing, it's dingy, and the cage is pretty scraped/gouged, pics at the ended eBay listing.

UPDATE: claimed by PM

rjhammett 12-18-13 08:52 PM

If no one comes forward that would use it on a bike I will take it. I would polish it up and display it in my bike man cave. Did you try polishing it or just clean it up?

Sorry rj, I got a PM to claim the FD already, thx for interest. I didn't polish it, but I scrubbed it good with diluted simple green and a toothbrush. Then a good water rinse, dry out in the oven, then reassemble with a little fresh grease. I guess a more powerful polish would bring out some shine. I've seen pics of these things really gleaming.

rjhammett 12-18-13 11:24 PM

I am glad someone claimed it that would use it. As I said, I wanted it for a display piece.

I would use it, but it seems I'm too late yet again.

RubeRad 12-19-13 07:45 PM

Just dropped it off at the post office, and I have to report; I had three things needed to be mailed, they added up to about $20, and it wasn't until after the door was closed (PO closed at 5:30), all the postage was printed, and stuck on the packages, that I realized I had left my wallet in my pannier on my bike at home in the garage. (I shoulda just ridden to the post office!) SO AWKWARD. The amazing postal lady offered to pay for me today and let me pay her back tomorrow. It's a Christmas Miracle! Merry Christmas everybody

anixi 12-19-13 09:39 PM

^Wow, that's a great Christmas story! I wouldn't count on it though! ;)

I suggest to send a note of appreciation for the postal employee to her supervisor. Folks like that are a rarity nowadays.
Here is the URL to send a complement.http://faq.usps.com/adaptivedesktop/...Q&dest=EmailUs

Done; thx for the link!

Long story on this, but up for the cost of postage (figure $30-ish in the continental USA) is this Centurion Ironman frame. 58cm ST CTC, 57cm TT XTX. Red and white, small-ish dent in the downtube (I found it by feeling). It's an '86, so came with Shimano 600 SIS and has the sloping crown fork.

It's filthy and needs lots of touch up (or a respray/powder coat) but as they say, good bones. English BB threading, 27mm crown race for the headset. Comes with the Sugino seatpost binder bolt and a pair of rear dropout adjusters. It's straight, just needs some lovin':

Great forward pass....
That's the idea. The dent's not a safety issue and it will make shoota a great riding bike.
