Raleigh Identification
Ok I have done some searching and checking around here, so as not to get hammer for not clicking the cool search button.
But I haven't been able to nail down IDing this year model Raleigh I have.
Yes I'll post pics tonight, but I'm at the office right now, here's the story, I had a gentleman come to the shop and bring in this cool 3spd and didn't want it, so I took it off his hands, it was pretty beat but hey I saw past that.
After spending some time giving this bike some much needed love it looks stunning (yes I'll get you pics), and doing some goole searches and searching here I still couldn't find the right year.
This looks to be a Raleigh Sport either a DL-22 or such, it's what I can tell from Bulgier's pages that it's coffee in color, it's all original except it doesn't have the bag on the rear, prolly lost or discarded, it had the 26 1 1 3/8's tires and a Shimano 3spd internal, the serial number was located on the bottom bracket and reads 6DH0369
Now most of all the ones I have been seeing have the SA rear spd hub, so I'm guessing it's a newer model bike since this is Shimano, it has a larger retangular red relector on the rear fender but the fender is not two tone with a white end on it like the majority I have seen here, and like in this pic:
https://bulgier.net/pics/bike/Catalog...R32_sports.jpg
the chain ring doesn't have the Raleigh symbol cutout, the relector is correct though.
Like I said as near as I can tell from all the larking from disassemble of the bike it is unmolested and all original.
I cleaned this beauty up, put on a new set of gumwalls and tubes, added a euro amber generator light, and my stepson went ape when I brought it home, he has taken possesion of it and loves it, nice to see a younger generation take to such a vintage ride, I guess I rubbed off on him, lol!
Anyways, I'd just like to find out the year model, you need more info please let me know so I can get it to help identify what I have here, and yes I'll get the pics for you tonight.
Thanks everyone for your time =)

To give you a better idea, I ran across this pic in my searches, and the bike looks just like this but without the white paint on the fenders, and the rear reflector is incorrect, the chain ring is incorrect and mine has a black Raleigh vinal saddle with a Raleigh tage riveted into the back of it, w/springs.
Thanks again,
Jeff

Does yours say "Raleigh Sports" on the chainguard as in the one pictured? If so, that's certainly the model, but the Shimano hub, lack of herons on the chainguard, and full-painted fenders could mean that it's an 80s model, perhaps not made in England. What does the headbadge look like? And pics, of course, would help a great deal.

Wow,
That is a pretty neat Bike there.
You have an 80's era Raleigh (US) 3-speed made by Meridia, (The M on the bottom bracket, probably in Taiwan. I'd say it's probably '84-'85 era.

But some one has stuck a Shimano 3 speed hub and shifter where a Sturmey Archer would normally be. Unless that was part of the Taiwan deal.

That's why I thought it was newer than a 70's model, the tires were original, everything was original, I was the first one to take off the nuts holding the wheels to the frame and fork since it was built.
They're were several thing that indicated it was boughtm ridden some and then just parked in a garage, banged aroud, packed up in a moving truck, and relocated from Califonia, to here in Texas, where is was banged around again in the garage and then sold at a yard sale, and a day later I recused it from the person whom bought it at a yard sale, cleaned, cleaned, and waxed it, and then my stepson begged to be the new pilot.
he worst thing about this poor bike is it was hardly ridden, the damage wasn't from ridding, it was from being moved around in the garage, the inside of the fenders are perfect, none of the nuts, bolt, screws show any wear from being removed or tightend, the seart hieght had moved till I got it to put it in the repair stand, same with the quill stem.
All the grease was clumpy, in the hubs, BB, steerer, 3spd, cleaned it all out checked the bearings, and repacked everything.
Cables where oxidized, removed and replaced, but cleaned and lubed the original casing as not wanting to deter too far from originality.
Brake pads were like new, just really hard, I may just go ahead and replace them.
