The YF007 is just a product number for that cable guide. The serial number is the one actually stricken into the BB shell itself, going around the circumference of it. It appears to end in 10545, but there are probably more digits at the beginning. Will require cleaning up the crud down there.
Also, get a photo of the bike overall from the other side. Seeing the drive components, and how they're fitted to the bike, will provide more info. Is there a head-badge?

need help : Frame and Decals Nishiki International US-model 1979 CI 09982
this is the US frame I shot in the german secondhand market a few days ago .

As you can see, the decals and labels are very badly scratched and can hardly be read.
My question and request to you:
- are there any pictures here in the Nishiki Forum of International frames with these special very early Nishiki decal shapes?
- Are there new decals in this special form available to buy as a replacement?
Unfortunately I haven't found anything suitable so far..... and here is an enlargement of the image, in which the special letter shape of the NISHIKI label can be better seen with lines on the left and right.

Thanks for Your informations and help. Gerhard

The fame tubing decal is the Double Butted Chrome Molybdenum. An example can be found here:
1980 Nishik International
An example of the seat tube decal can be found here:
1979 Nishiki Olympic 12
I think you are correct about the decals being 1979 Nishiki USA.
The serial number is for Nishiki Canada. But I have never seen a Canadian Nishiki with these decals.
The 1979 Canadian Nishiki International had the same tubing decal, but different seat stay caps.
Very strange Nishiki bicycle indeed.

I will try to use these decals as a model for new decals to reproduce. I hope so .

Bikes: 1989 Nishiki Altron
Have a Nishiki Altron with serial number W89090096 (or possibly 96006068M) and looking to decipher it. Have looked at the database, but this number doesn't actually match any of the patterns I see. Believe this to have been manufactured in 1989 or August of 1990. Unable to post pictures since I don't have 10 posts yet, but if you go to UserX.org ---> Diversion ---> Housewares you will see a heading for 1989 Nishiki Altron. Have high resolution pictures and highly descriptive. Can anyone help with this?

The fork looks like a replacement from another bike
Here it is. Is this a strange animal or not?
Fluorescent green/yellow Nishiki Altron, at least it has an Altron sticker on the main tube, All components (Front and rear derailleur, brakes, cranks) are Shimano 600 except the hubs which are Shimano 105.
Here is the hinky part, the frame states Tange Prestige. The fork is white and has a sticker that claims 4130.
I can get better pictures later if needed. Looking at the serial number I'm assuming the bike is 1987+ as the serial number does not jive with 87 and under serial numbers.
Seat stays are chrome from hub to seat and crank.
Serial number AL90056803
What are your thoughts?

Have an Altron that looks very similar to yours. Believe the one I have is from the year earlier. The fork is chrome plate over CrMo steel. It has a clear coat protective layer. Yours looks like it came from another bike.

I know that your original post is more than 2 years old.
OP's original post.
OP's album
the serial number you quoted is missing one digit at the end. The serial number is from the manufacturer Giant of Taiwan. The year of frame manufacture is 1989. The model appears to be a Nishiki Sport.

Bikes: n+1 please - a list of 20-ish, everything from a 1951 Schwinn to a 2019 Lynskey GR270, many 1970s Schwinns, road, dirt, mtn, CX, SS, casual, folder, and a '66 Schwinn Twinn violet
I also have this same (as M A V's) color scheme Alien and its serial # is W8905609. So wouldn't this be a 1989 (89) made in May (05)? Thanks, Jay

Welcome to the forum.
OP's album
Picture assist:

Based upon the decals and the serial number I guess the year as 1996 or 1997.

I have searched the Nishiki topics here several times to find general and deeper answers and information about the two Nishiki frameworks Professional and ONP.
I only found one or two pictures and texts from the owners.
My questions:
-Were there publications or brochures from the manufacturer with data and details about the frames for the presentation and market launch of the two models?
- in which years were these two frames produced by Kawamura?
- Was the frames produced only when quantities were ordered by the specialist dealer(s)?
- Were both frames only offered in the USA or also in Europe?
I know, maybe too many questions. Nevertheless, thanks for answers.

Nishiki Olympic Estate Sale Find
Just brought home this Nishiki Olympic that I picked up for $40 at an estate sale. Figured the vintage Brooks saddle on it made it worth that. But it is beautiful and I'm a bit smitten. Thinking this could be the first frame I try to fully strip and re-paint if the rust isn't too deep. S/N: KG 50713 with a big wide "W" under it. Decal says it's made in Japan (what does the "W" mean?) and is CrMo frame. From initial post, it's either 1977 or 1987, made for US market (50,713th built). I'm thinking 1977 rather than 1987, but it's a little confusing. Has Shimano shifters down low, but Suntour AR derailleurs (at least front is AR - need to clean the rear one to see). The chrome forks strike me as very late '70's. Also, I found a 1987 Nishiki catalog online and the Olympic had side-pull brakes then (mine are center-pull Diacompes).
Can't post pictures yet - apparently haven't posted 10x's yet.
What do you think? 1987 or 1977? Is it possible it came with Shimano shifters but Suntour derailleurs?

The OPN frameset is from 1976 - 1977.
Here is a link to Joe Bunik and information on Order Nishik Professional bicycles.
Joe Bunik - OPN
This link includes a Bicycling magazine article from 1976 August.
Also there were/are OPN frames found in Asia with a different serial number format from the USA market.
The Nishiki Professional model name is more complicated. That model name was used in more than one international market.
I believe that the first Professional model in the USA was from 1971 - 1972. The frames were manufactured by Katakura Silk.
There were some Nishiki Professional models sold in different European countries in about 1980.

Picked up a Nishiki Freewheeler recently, complete with the much derided FFS. From perusing this thread, I believe it is a Giant built 1985.
Drive side dropout G0485

NDS dropout

Also the BB is stamped 68E, which I guess denotes BB width and threading? I have not measured it yet.

Decent overall condition although coated in a thick layer of grime. The rack has already been removed since I took this picture.
