Single-speed utility

I'm looking to buy a single-speed utility bicycle. Does anyone know where I can get one/have one for sale? It doesn't have to be an authentic one; modern replicas are fine with me. In fact, I'd probably prefer the latter to avoid any sort of wear and tear that it might have. Something like this is ideal.

Bikes: Motobecane Mirage fixed gear, Nashbar Alpha Road 5000, Bianchi Grizzly, Coppi Fiorelli, , Schwinn Trike, , GT All Terra, Old Peugeot, Nishiki 3 speed, Bugatti, Cannondale Black Lightning, Dura All, Bianchi Touring, Bridgestone T700 & more

How about this?

It's a Raleigh Dl-1 Tourist. An older rig that can still be found and very serviceable. They go for some pretty good change on Ebay but I've seen similar models for very cheap needing some work around here. In fact I have a Sport model sitting in my carport right now waiting for the spring flipping season. My LBS has one exactly like the one pictured hanging in the back room he might be willing to part with as well.

This new one is a dutch bike and will set you back some serious change:

They can be found here:

For an American made bombproof utility bike I'd suggest here:

But really an older Raleigh is great.........Even if it takes some tinkering to get rollin'

My 2 cents,

So do you want it for the actual purpose of utility or do you want one that just looks like the old ones?

Desaparecido is car-free, so I think he does indeed intend to use it as a utility bike.

gotta love those raleighs. the sports are three-speed, but with the sa hub they're worry free... you can usually get a decent sports for 75 bucks. on the other hand, velorbis makes some sweet rides, but we're talking 2k plus. i'd stay away from modern knock-offs, they're more trouble than they're worth imo...

If all you could find was a 3 speed, would you be ok with that? Once you learn the basics of 3 speed care, you're totally set.

I think the Kogswell P/R set up singlespeed is one of the most beautiful utility options there is.

Have you seen the Breezer line of city bikes? They give off that utility vibe much like the old DL1's do.

Are you familiar with the Schwinn Coffee? It's a 3-speed that brings back memories of the old Raleigh, Schwinn & other similar bikes from long ago. I think the online pix really look sweet. Link: https://www.schwinnbike.com/products/...il.php?id=1027

But you want a single speed, yes? Well, Performance Bike sells a single-speed version of the Schwinn Coffee for ~$250. Website says they're out of 'em now, but expect more in about a month. Link: https://www.performancebike.com/shop/...slisearch=true

Just a thought.

Thanks for the suggestions! I'd probably take a three-speed one as well. I didn't realise they made them with that few speeds. I've just noticed, and it might just be in my head, but for some reason bikes with a lot of speeds seem to ride a bit clunkier and not as smooth as some of the single-speeds I rode growing up.
