Bikes: yikes, too many

Date my Colnago!

I just bought an older Colnago frame. I know, I'l lame because there are no photos but I will post some later (after I watch the tour).

The frame looks to be in great condition but the previous owner powder coated it. The only clue to the age is the "C92" on the steer tube and "C92" on the rear drops.

The down tube has braze-ons for shifters.

Any ideas of the age? Even though it is powder coated I thought it would still be nice to own.

with the detailed information provided i'm gonna stick my neck way out there and estimate that the frame was built sometime during the last quarter of the 20th century

OK, here are some photos. Obviously not a museum piece anymore. What do you think?

probably an 81 or 82 export or international, based on the lack of a braze-on front derailleur mount, the btm-bkt cable guides and brake & chainstay bridges- the fork tangs appear shorter & less detailed than my recollection for the super/mexico's

Anyone know the significance of the "C92" stamped on the Rear DO and steerer?

I have an 82/83 Super and it DOES look like that except as caterham said my fork tangs are longer.

Although it looks like powder-coat it may just be a bad paint job. Looks like red paint around the face of the BB shell. If it was powder-coated it would have been sandblasted first, so there should be no signs of an earlier or original paint job.

You'd be in luck if it's not powder-coat, as you can then strip it and give it a decent, thin, paint job.

The numbers on the D.O. mean nothing. Except that the frame and fork match, of course.

This may be a dumb question but how can I tell the difference? I was told when I bought it that it was powder coated by the previous owner. Anyway to tell for sure?
