Today was a clear cool day in West Marin; 29f when I left home, 49f on my return. I took the bin-build Panasonic on it's shakedown ride today to Point Reyes Station.
Sitting in the sun drinking my coffee I was captured by rooflines today.
Snoopy made an appearance in his sidecar.
The Panasonic, which came to me courtesy of @Steve Whitlatch is really a fine bike! This was an experiment to see how I like a bike with a shorter top tube. I like it so much I think I will put racks on it and turn it into a light tourer!

OBH, that looks great. Deep blue sky, and a study of roof lines. Very FLW-ish.
A bunch of us did our Dec 26 ride today, 53.3 miles (and a few of us doing more because they rode past a turn and there was no way on God's green earth we could catch them so we stopped and I pulled out a cell phone ).
At the start, L to R:
JJScaliger, Frog, Prowler, otg, Ed., me and my sweetie Sharon, our neighbor Larry. All on vintage bikes too. The oldest was Frog's 1950 Raleigh converted to derailleurs, the youngest Larry's Serotta.
To compete with Sharon's cookies Prowler brought some brickies. Very tasty.
Photo op at Walden Pond, just "because".
43 miles into the ride we finally stopped for lunch at Fern's in Carlisle, a favorite cyclist stopping point.
We finished before dark, no one got lost or dropped, no one had a flat tire! Not bad for 8 people on 7 bikes. Avg spd 13.8mpg, a new record for us on the tandem.
More pics can be found here.

I rode my commute again today. No pics even though I took a camera. The pair of turkeys resident in someone's front yard for the last month have not been seen this last week. Maybe someone had a turkey dinner for Christmas.
There are only two noteworthy points to note today. It was moderately cold, and with a steady headwind this morning. And I rode today on a rear wheel I built up last week. Some might say it is stupid to head off to work on an untested wheel, but I have faith in my own builds.
You see, after I had built up the generator hub for the front wheel I had mismatched hubs. And an orphaned 501 front hub. Well, a month or so I found a nice Suntour Cyclone rear hub that looked much like the SV-8 front hub. By rebuilding the rear with the Suntour I reclaimed a matching set of 501s to use on a future project, such as the pair of GP4 in a box in the basement.

The patina (or beausage if you're a Rivendell fan) on your bike is absolutely fanstastic. I think this is one of my favorite pictures of 2015.

Mixed December weather here in the far north burbs of Chicago. Some trails were a "no go, turn around" and some were a "walk only" for me. I feel safer on the Raleigh Twenty, not so far from the ground! I've had concerts and a nasty cold the past few weeks, and now we have snow and ice, so no riding for me at the moment.

Great photos everyone! @c_bake The scenery is fantastic. Luckily the roads have been cleared efficiently. @jimmuller Now that is a good looking riding crew. In '16 I shall ride in your neck of the woods. @Sir_Name @Vonruden Great shots as always.
On Monday I took advantage of the beautiful weather to do a 75 mile 4 borough ride from my home at the extreme north of NYC to Coney Island in the south. The temps were in the 40's and it was sunny and breezy. Just splendid. Here are a few photos from Brooklyn along the Belt Parkway promenade and Coney Island. I chose my Fuji Ace for this ride.

With temperatures hovering a few degrees above 0 C I was reminded how cold bare metal can get - just a short ride of a mile or so checking out the Peschi - minus handlebar tape, toe straps or glued on tubular tires. Definitely need some wider bars, 42 cm usually feels right, the 37 cm make the bike feel a bit too sensitive. Never even noticed the seat was a bit too angled - the joy of setting your bike up. Went to the local Burnaby Lake before losing daylight. I love fenders so much I am debating some 35mm hammered on it some day. More scenic pictures next time.

Northbend has good taste.
I rode in the chilly - trying to find the sun and avoid the shadows with icy.

Ha! I did the same thing today. I was going to ride out on the Discovery Trail where we rode the last time you were in town, but turned around when I hit the shade. Too dang cold, so I spent an hour going up and down hills in the Lincoln Heights neighborhood where the sun was still shining. Still, just hovering around 30 F.
I think our midwestern friends would think we're a couple of wimps

Well yesterday. I did my traditional New Year's Day slog up Thunder Ridge on the BRP. 47 degrees at the bottom, 30 degrees and windy at the top. I knew it was gonna be cold but didn't have enough room to haul up extra gear and figured I would suck it up for the descent. Coldest I have been on the bike in years! Alas no pics as my hands were too cold to work the phone, despite wearing my winter gloves.
Still a good way to start the year. Happy 2016 everyone!

First ride of the year so wanted a special one, went with the BG. I was smiling ear to ear the entire ride, just love this one.
