We did manage to escape today for a couple of hours and do a 30k ride on our Snels. Both are parts bin builds I put together over the winter, to see if and how much we would like these bikes. If so, they will be prettied up later on. The black one is also mrs non-fixie's first drop bar bike, and this was her first somewhat longer ride on it.

No complaints or change requests so far.

Both of those look great! You must have had quite a parts bin.

Thank you. And yes, I have hoarded a reasonable selection of parts over the years.

I went out for another 15 or so miles today. No pics. I just rode, mostly suburban-ish roads.

I’m calling 20 year old carbon ‘almost’ vintage and posting here. Original owner.

quick jaunt to nearby town = Issaquah.
First 2km is all downhill. A brake test to check the equipment, really. Left on May Valley Road

Through the High Valley. Left coast, ya know.

Past the State of WA park.

Old Issaquah train station

In the old town section

Old gas station, dry for decades - on Front St.

Dairy on Front Street, still fully operational. Not the best shot, but sun was a problem, as if that's a life problem in Seattle in March.

XXX Root Beer - Still take-out And car-side But no Restaurant.

Fish Hatchery, but the Brewery/Pub almost next door = closed
i

Almost home. Only the 2km, 150m hill to challenge the 34/28 on old legs still in early season mode. Love my Calfee.

Since scheet flows downhill, this is where I start up my last hill ~150+m. Some things in life are free.

Rode out to Boring, Oregon yesterday. The winds from Monday had died down completely:

Columbia River - like glass

I spent much of the ride on the Springwater Corridor Trail. The Portland area's bike infrastructure is impressive.

Same old ride up to Council Crest in Portland, but this is usually triple territory for me. Thought it might be fun to gut it out with the 42. It was! Too crowded, though! Go back inside everyone! This is one of my favorite spots at the bottom of Hessler Drive, where there’s a little bit of gravel road and a dirt trail. That part was empty, like it normally is.

Too nice not to ride today.
61* when I got home at 5.
Grabbed the Calfee again.
Little hardpack, some paved trail (a lot of Covid home-bound about), and relatively quiet roads, but not empty on commuter routes.

^^^^ The river got wider in the Winter rains.

Fields and open spaces and sunshine in March = NICE! (not France)

Hardpack with scarce gravel is nice, too.

Friday afternoon @ 4:30 this road normally crowded with autos + trucks.

Went around Lake Sammamish to celebrate the first full day of Spring - and the finish of my last quarter at Cascadia College. I begin my Education BA at UW 30 March.

Shorts and short-sleeve jersey temps - beautiful day!

More alone time today. I was able to ride farther up the trail heading up to the pass. The warm weather this past week helped clear the trail significantly.

My daily rides continued today. All of them lately are "self contained" to minimize contact with anyone else. I pack a lunch and find a quiet place to eat it somewhere along the way. Today it was at a Lake near my home.

Wow. What kind of contortions did you go through to get this shot? Pretty impressive, DD. Beautiful bike, too.

Sometimes you just get lucky - that's what happened here. I held my hand against the seat tube with the camera facing forward and fired. Got it on the first go

Thanks! I am really enjoying this bike, but today's ride revealed I need to tweak the drivetrain after a recent wheelset substitution. I expect this bike will get lots of miles this summer.

1st decent ride with hills today. I really regretted not having the 3 speed rear hub anymore!

Total distance was 31km, taking us just over an hour (1:16) as a round trip.

It was VERY windy

That looks great. BTW, your description doesn't say where you are. So it took me some digging to figure out you are in New Zealand.

Not a lockdown. Biking is also encouraged, as are all types of “solo” exercise.

A sometimes fast, sometimes leisurely ride down to Issaquah and back. Took the Colnago Mexico out for its first ride of the season, and put the first miles on the recently-installed Campy alloy FW since about 1994 or so.

No pictures on my ride today. I rode east to Bethany Beach only to see that the beach and boardwalk are closed to public access. Did a non-direct ride home to give me 20 miles. I got online at home and found the closure in for all public beaches and boardwalks in Delaware, until May 15th, or until Covid-19 in no longer a public health threat. That is a huge deal for the residents and huge numbers of people that would normally be here.
