You're right! Because I was on a Specialized Hardrock w/ 1.95" tires and getting my teeth rattled loose. :)
I could have used knobby tires, but only had street oriented comfort tires. This road is to be explored with a full-suspension bike. Even the hoof prints showed the horses had a tough time negotiating it at places.

EDIT:Google Maps tells me I stumbled upon Central Arizona Project Csr. That's what the rocky road is called. I was looking for Fort McDowell Rd. which leads to a park. :-P

Another from the 2013 Giro D'Vino (or Giro D'Wind this year.) Lodi, Ca has some pretty good reds. This ride is 75k, with 14 winery stops and wine shuttle services. We took advantage of that! Ride had over 600 this year. Below photos from Macchia Winery.

A window in the weather gave us a beautiful, if rather chilly ride.

In a past life, we kept goats, though a very small herd of no more than 8 or nine. We put them into an area you couldn't even see through, and a couple years later we could walk upright through it. Multiflora mostly. They do nice work.

Very scenic, I'd love to ride there someday. Lucky guy.

I am looking at some of the other pics on here, and thinking the same thing.

I am very fortunate having the Yorkshire Dales, virtually on my doorstep though.

Some lovely names of places on the ride I did too;- Appletreewick, Hartlington Pastures, Bolton Abbey

Based on the names alone these sound like nice places. I hear the name Harlington Pastures and I picture miles and miles of stone fences and country roads with no traffic except the occasional cow.

So many beautiful rides documented here. I always look forward to seeing what's next when I open this thread each day.

Got up to 57 degrees in Chicago, so I did a lazy 40-miler up the North Shore. Beautiful fall day!

Haven't been on here much in the last month thanks to a crazy work schedule. Kids sports have also zapped any meaningful weekend rides since my metric century with Roger M and Northbend a month ago. But, I was fortunate enough today to get out for a couple of hours on roads I dont normally ride. Temp was 39 degrees F - so a little bitter but the hills kept me warm. :thumb: And, I got back in time to watch the 2nd half of the Nebraska vs. Michigan game.

We did 32.1 miles on the tandem today, all roads we're familiar with. Temps were in the low 40's, not bad except for out lunch stop at Heart Pond where the wind seemed colder than elsewhere.

Tomorrow JJScaliger and I are planning to do ~75. If the roads don't freeze and the sun don't set...

I had a rare Sat. off and had to do some adjustments to the Dawes for tomorrow's ride, so I was able to do 26.66 miles this afternoon. I switched the freewheel back to the Sun tour 888 5 speed and installed my new cheapo Taiwanese fluted seat post and borrowed my one and only Brooks from the Gitane.

It was cold at about 45 degrees and definitely colder with the wind. A gray November day.

Installed a new 105 downtube lever on my bike so I can actually shift again. Took my 87 Centurion out to the San Fernando Valley and road the Orange line from Chatsworth to North Hollywood, a good twenty mile ride. I'm trying to shake the cobwebs off my legs. This is my first bike in almost half a year and I'm still trying to get back to form.
I'm thinking of riding around Pasadena today, but my legs still hurt lol. Any Los Angeles local riders, PM me anytime for local group rides or events or whatever. I'm always interested.

JJScaliger and I did our ride today. The threatening weather made us cut it shorter than the originally projected mileage, ended at 68.55miles, Bedford, MA to Nashua, NH. That's okay though because it still made a metric century and bettered my birthday-ride requirement (by 3.55 miles). And it was 5 days early. JJS rode his Dawes, I rode the Bianchi. That Dawes is quite lovely!

Cold (mid-40's at the start), damp, wet roads, but predicted to become sunny. Yeah, right.

On the way outbound to New Hampshire JJS had to stop and look for the source of bump in the rear tire. (He rides sew-ups.) We found this.

The only other noteworthy events were the two times the Bianchi threw its chain onto the BB when I went to downshift. I guess St. Tullio was getting back at me for not riding the Masi. The sun came out for a while, but in Dunstable just after we started back home the temperature fell and brought with it a few drops of rain or sleet. Otherwise it was a great trip! We even managed a moving average of 14.5mph, not bad for this C&V engine.

Great going on the birthday mileage.

This time of year, you need to squeeze in every last ride, because you don't know when the snow will hit. I'm 17 miles away from my yearly goal. Going to try to knock it out next weekend and call it a season.
