Got this Schwinn Traveler from a coworker for nothing. Needs a little cleaning and some new rubber. It's for my wife though - not me.

hard to see from the small cel phone picture, but it's got early Shimano 105 and the frame is labeled "Mistral" It's got 700c wheels, nice white leather bar tape, aero levers, and the seat post isn't even stuck. Oh, it's triple butted Tange tubing (don't know the 'brand' or 'line' though...) . It was cheap & I'm happy. Anyone know about these bikes? |
n + 1 - 1
I got a new bike, well a frame anyway, but didn't increase the number of bikes in the garage because I noticed the CL ad said something about "or interesting trade". We worked out a deal for a 1970 Sears ladies bike with an oddball drivedrain (5-speed Shimano Lark derailleur + 2 speed internal autoshifting hub) that I've had kicking around the garage for a while. It is a mid-to-late 1980s, I think, Nishiki Sport. I believe it was made in Taiwan, maybe by Giant? Frame & unicrown fork made from 4130 Cro-Mo, with lugs and cast dropouts. Paint is a little rough, I may repaint it if it doesn't clean up well. The guy threw in some derailleurs and aero brake levers. I think I've got everything else I need to build up a bike around the house. We'll see how it looks when I build it up. Not quite as nice as the Olympic 12 I wrecked last year (which is kind of my standard) but a little better maybe than my Raleigh Marathon. |

I am pretty sure that is a Giant built bike. At one time I had a Nishiki Sport and Schwinn World Sport in the garage and they were twins down to the litle giant sticket on the rear drop out.

Picked up a Cannondale R300 project yesterday. Needs some serious cleanup, but no serious defects. I might upgrade this bike to STI status for resale (too big for me).

The last Le Tour update. bear trap pedals and decals added...:D
Yes, It looks MUCH better with decals, I will have to say, hehe. Especially when they're not yellow and white. They're gold and silver from a Luxe model. If I find some matte finish metallic gold housing, it would be on the bike in a heartbeat. No one local carries it.,,,,BD Introducing the latest member of the over improved Le Tour club, hehe! http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n...r/DSCN0055.jpg http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n...r/DSCN0056.jpg |

http://www.flickr.com/photos/vintage_concord/ Interesting... Not much of a Concord knowledge here, but the pie plate crank, the saddle and the handlebars make it look just like one of the last Rollfasts produced. Does it take 26 inch wheels and is the rear wheel reversible? Interesting... Maybe after Rollfast went under in the early 70s they sold their pattern to someone else... |

Dig it! :D Especially the the bar tape.
I should also ask you to choose some decals for my Continental.

It came with 27" wheels, but I honestly can't find very much info on these. I have only found 3 pics of Concord road bikes and they were all Pacer SS models. A google of Gran Fury comes up empty. I saw a badge for sale once on ebay, but info has been extremely hard to come by. I read somewhere in the forums that they were built by Kuwahara, they made the bmx for the ET movie and then went under. I also found this info from an old LA newspaper article but couldn't retrieve all of it :Dec 11, 1974 - OUTSTANDING QUALITY BIKES-All equipped with Shimano Eagle Derailleur* Shimano Tourney Alloy * Center Pull Brakes w/Quick Release * Shimano Stem Shifters a Shimano Alloy Double Brake Levers * Custom Sidewall Tires * Deluxe Soft Seat * Alloy Kickstand * Fully Lugged & Brazed Frame ...
Needless to say it does leave me scratching my head. But I can't help but stare at her. |
CB, Thanks. My son spent four days after school out in the garage polishing. He thinks he may start up a little business..lol. First his four brothers want him to clean theirs too though...lol.

Found two TREK's at a garage sale for $50.00 each. Identical bikes except one is a 12 speed and the other is 18.

(and this one is a good example of why you should never use electrical tape as handlebar tape) |

Picked these 2 up recently from 2 different members of my loca MTB club. First one is I think a 93 Jamis Quest frame and fork. Paint is in pretty bad shape, debating a rattle can job. Free

In pretty nice shape. I did a little cleaning up on it so far with plenty left to do. I actually really like this bike and am debating modernizing it a bit with a set of wheels I have and maybe a newer crankset. Also Free. http://i356.photobucket.com/albums/o...r/IMG_1789.jpg http://i356.photobucket.com/albums/o...r/IMG_1791.jpg http://i356.photobucket.com/albums/o...r/IMG_1792.jpg http://i356.photobucket.com/albums/o...r/IMG_1796.jpg http://i356.photobucket.com/albums/o...r/IMG_1790.jpg http://i356.photobucket.com/albums/o...r/IMG_1793.jpg |
I’m gonna go look at an old Fuji in a few hours. I know nothing about the bike other than this picture. Anything non-obvious I should look for?

Looks like a touring model from here. Hard to tell for sure but the brakes look like canti's and the head tube looks slack.

That is quite a large bike. Did you get the dimensions? I would guess 63 - 65 cm. Good luck!
|
I'd be looking for the really tall dude selling it....or figure I'm buying a bike from a flipper.
