I really, really like this bike. A name you don't see too often and obviously that is an incredible bike, but it doesn't seem to fit into this thread. It looks like you put a good bit of time and money into that build. Was it in fact a catch of the day/saved from the dump super score?
the parts just sat in a bag in the corner of the living room for close to a year before i finally found a frame that fit me that was worthy of all my parts. i got it complete from another tall dude for $200 on cl. with a complete shimano 600 group, 36h mavic ma40s with ZERO brake wear, and a cinelli cockpit. the frame is immaculate! and the paint has a slight glitter sheen underneath the clear coat that sparkles in the sun. unfortunately i cant pick this up with my camera, so youll have to take my word for it. i had never really heard of the miele name until i picked it up. my girlfriend is originally from missassauga, and she thinks that she heard the name before. as it turns out, her older brother has the same bike as me - only in yellow - hanging from the rafters in his garage. |
Wow, so it really does belong in this thread! Nothing beats something beautiful like that as a product of wheelin' and dealin'. I love it, that's a hell of a build, cool story too. What kind of tubing is it?

This thread is great, I love seeing so many classic bikes being brought back to life!
Here's a small contribution – I found an abandoned 1989 Crescent 92317 in a backyard near my home a couple of years ago, here's an ad for it: http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1380/...c4dbee15_z.jpg 1989 Crescent 92317 ad by jaknudsen, on Flickr It was in quite bad shape, with disintegrated tires and bar tape and dry bearings all around. But I think it cleaned up pretty good :) http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1235/...b54fd759_z.jpg DSC_8064 by jaknudsen, on Flickr http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1044/...84d342a2_z.jpg SL-1050, Tange 900 tubing by jaknudsen, on Flickr http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1320/...1675b02c_z.jpg BR-1050 by jaknudsen, on Flickr http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1346/...4f198ab5_z.jpg BL-1050 by jaknudsen, on Flickr http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1093/...1fb816bf_z.jpg Heritage by jaknudsen, on Flickr It was my first road bike, and got me hooked enough to get a new Gary Fisher Ion Pro – which meant this piece of swedish steel had to go. Within an hour of posting the bike up for sale I got 10-15 enquiries – there seems to be a great demand for classic racers here in Oslo. I probably could have gotten a lot more for it than what I did! |

What puzzles me is that the marketing guys at Crescent thought they could sell more bikes with him, than a picture of say, other swedish stock....

That ad is hilarious. I didn't know that Fabio was a cyclist.

You should totally dress up like him, pose for the same picture and re-post.

Last weekend's catch - a 83 Trek 520 in decent and rideable condition.
http://lh6.ggpht.com/_TIeBxBH6dXI/TG.../83_520_01.jpg I swapped out the wheels that came with it (two flats that I didn't have time to repair,) and went for a spin around the neighborhood. About four miles out I found a wheel-less Trek 6000 leaning against a pile of brush (bulk pickup is tomorrow...) Hung it over my back and wobbled home. http://lh4.ggpht.com/_TIeBxBH6dXI/TG...ek_6000_01.jpg I believe it's a 92. Suntour XC LTD drive train, and very low miles from the look of it. |
I don't know if this counts or not. I bought one of the "accident" cranks that Velo-Orange was selling at a deep discount. Looks shiny, can't wait for it to show up. I am going to use this on my ebay mystery frame along with some other random bits.

I picked this up a few days ago. It is a 1975 Mohawk. The guy bought it new in 1975. I added the german military pannier bag I found in a vintage clothing store in Portland. One interesting thing about it is that it is a 5 speed with a twist grip shifter. |
DIamondback mountain bike, It's a neat bike the frame is interesting, sorry for night shots!

Or a lot of swedish girls would be interested. Maybe not such a bad idea after all. |

People who sell Treks with Flat tires are generally a boon to the C&V community - and people that throw them away even more so. (Good thing you saw it before the trash man got to it) |
Okay, this is kinda odd, but here's what I found leaning on a public trash can on a NYC city street.
A 700c three speed coaster brake wheel. Rim is a very new but slightly banged up mavic open sport; it's true but there's a flat spot or two. Hub is a '78 SA S3C. No tire or axle nuts. No lock, of course. And no other bike parts in the area. |
ACCIDENT cranks? what are they? was there a manufacturing error?

Note: These cranks are on sale because they have a chrome plated finish, rather than the high-polish anodized finish, due to a little communication error with the factory. They do work perfectly and look nice, but they are not what we wanted or will stock in the future. Not returnable. |

Heres a better picture of that Diamond back I got, heres what it looks like now.

This was pulled out of a landfill recently(not by me). I paid $8 for it. probably too much, but oh well.

$8... you did very very well. Forged drops! , Looks like a Stronglight crankset too I believe.
