Here's my ride. Got it at a Pawn Shop. I love this bike. It's a 1986 Nishiki Olympic and was made by Giant. I just put new tires and cables on it as well as cross levers.

Local CL score.. Centurion built Diamondback DBVenture, tange infinity, shimano exage components, biopace triple and more befitting than some of the other bikes i've been riding. And FWIW I payed $50. Rides pretty nice, I intent to tear it down and give everything a good regreasing, but I'm in dire need of different saddle.

Tonights find is this GT mountain bike, came with spare parts and spare frame, not sure how old it is but it still rides nice, the price was the best part about it!.

Raleigh Capri 10 speed someone was throwing out! It needs some tlc!

Nice job. love to see someone score a big bike that they can ride. Vertical drops! I test rode a tange #2 bike in a size like that and it was sweet. I wonder how infinity is.... wondering how prestige is....

Found two brooks saddles in a fleemarket in Berlin! The first one is marked Brooks Professional and the other Brooks B 17. Paid 12 euros each!
I´m planning on changing my ideale saddle for one of the Brooks since I have a Raleigh bike. Wich one would be the best suited for a Raleigh competition bike?? The B 17 is a bit large I think but it looks comfortable. Petter Dahlström |
Raleigh Competition? DEFINITELY the Professional. Something about the B.17's shape makes it suitable for more upright bikes. The Pro is perfect
for a drop bar racing bike like the Competition.,,,,BD |

The price was right (free) for this Le Tour III frame. The only condition was that I agreed to turn it into a working bike. The donor did not want to see it scrapped. I was happy to agree. Before yesterday my plan was to turn my '88 Le Tour into my daily rider SS/FG commuter (it came with even less parts, not even a fork! so I figured I was free from the onus of restoration). But now I'm thinking that perhaps this LT3 might have to be the next daily rider - as it has so many more parts (forks and stem, seat post, cranks, brakes, bars, pedals) that getting her running should be a much simpler task. The extra weight (the LT3 is high ten vs the 88 Le Tour's cromoly) makes it a better candidate for SS/FG freeing the '88 for a longer term project: an IGH 3 speed commuter. The '88's wider dropout spacing (126mm) also makes it a better candidate for an IGH I think. Suggestions to the contrary are welcome of course. I'll peep the serial number tonight to try to confirm this, but from what I can gather on the 'net, the Le Tour III was only produced in 1978? Probably built by Panasonic? |

I picked up this Trek today. It’s a “garage queen” with zero miles on it, but it badly needs a bath, and general maintenance /overhaul. I purchased it from a flipper, who was dealing primarily in kids bikes. He had about 20 kid’s bikes from his garage, along with this one lonesome road bike. When I first approached, I saw there were some people and cars left idling ahead of me, and I thought to myself, “Oh boy – If this turns into a bidding war, I’m turning right back around” - but it did not. – (Though it could have gotten downright ugly, if I had wanted that yellow 20” Murray MTB with pink daisy’s.) Thankfully, no one else was interested in the grey Trek. It was a pretty good deal. There is no model ID on the bike, but it matches the catalog specs for a 1982 Model 614 . Including: Reynolds 531 dbl butted tubes; Cyclone II DR’s; Sugino AT Triple crank; and Diacompe brakes. However, it DIFFERS from the catalog in that it has Weinmann concave rims (vs. Rigida); Maillard (non-Helico) hubs (vs. Sansin); an Avocet “Sporting” saddle; and Shimano levers with TURKEY WINGS! I believe everything to be original to the bike – including the bar tape. (It is highly improbable that the PO was so sophisticated as to require a different wheel set, but in all probability, he did request that TURKEY WINGS be added at the time of purchase.) Personally, I think of the wheels as an upgrade, and I have a new set of wingless Diacompe branded brake levers on the way. If I decide to keep it , then a rack is in its future as well. http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/h...rek614002a.jpg http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/h...rek614004a.jpg http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/h...rek614006a.jpg |

If I had the time before I leave town, I might have swapped everything onto the Cannondale. I was going to sell it, then made the fatal mistake of test riding it, hehe. That cannondale is one of the nicest condition finds I've ever run across. So what if it's an R200, their frames are all basically the same, and components can be upgraded. It got an Avocet anatomic saddle last night, that Coda comfort saddle was bugging the hell out of me, hehe. It looks decidedly more vintage now, just with that one little swap. |
Sorry, didn't notice all the comments on the C'dale earlier in the thread!! Thanks!:D Once I hopped on the thing I was like yeah, I gotta keep it:D
The components function perfectly, but I could see this thing all decked out in full 600 tricolor, or 105 like the Diamondback had. The color is what made me buy it, and probably one of the main reasons I am keeping it. In the sun it really goes nuts sparkling. Lots of nice metallic flakes. In the shade where I took the pics, it is pretty subdued. I had always been looking for a DT shifter Cannondale, and now I found one. It's a 58cm, and I got it for $100. Needed a bath and tires, even the cables were still good.,,,,BD That stem bugs me too, as does the black seatpost. I will try to remedy those problems pretty quickly, hehe |
Gthoro, jstewse, Sixty Fiver, Dannihilator -
Thanks for the " :thumb: " on the '82 Trek 614 ! |

Well, I found a good donor yesterday. Bike is pretty messed up build wise. Someone converted a decent KHS road bike to a flat bar hybrid. I'm moving various parts to other projects, and the rear wheel has moved to a new home. Under the dirt, is an eclectic assortment of components: Tiagra rear wheel, Shimano 600 RD, Sora FD, nine speed MTB shifters, tricolor brake calipers, SRAM nine speed cassette, Bontrager stem, etc.... I needed several of the parts: nine speed MTB shifters, brake levers, BB, seat, pedals; and others will be nice additions to the parts bin.

Nice find this afternoon. I picked up a really pristine 1997 Schwinn Passage. RSX brifter bike. A couple of components definitely not original, like the STX RD and the RX100 crankset. I had a 1996 last year. I really like this color better.

Great find wrk101 ! I love the color!
(All it needs is a pair of barcons and new brake levers, and you're good to go! :thumb:) |
Picked up a few bicycles this week along with a nice MTB wheelset all from yard sales. I picked up two bikes a Jetter 12 speed road bike made of Tange 900 tubing and a Freespirit ten speed along with extra wheels/tires,helmets,locks and tool kit for $30.
The Jetter I like and it fits me,it has Araya 27" wheels, (has a 700X25 rear on it now but came with orig mint 27" rear Araya) Sakae SA double crankset, Dia Compe brakes and Shimano deraillures,Vetter rack and a set of mini bull moose bars. I should be able to flip the Freespirit and cover the cost of the Jetter so I am going to keep it for now. The Schwinn OCC Chopper was given to me from a friend who's son no longer wants it so I will clean it up,put the original bars on it and flip it to buy parts for another project. The Wheelset I got at two different sales the rear was free with a Diamond Back frame and the front cost $5 ( I couldn't believe they matched perfect) and they are Ritchey Vantage Expert rear and Vantage Pro Comp front with Shimano Deore DX hubs with a 8 speed cassette .(I forgot to get a shot of the wheels as a whole) http://i299.photobucket.com/albums/m...ikepics068.jpg http://i299.photobucket.com/albums/m...ikepics060.jpg http://i299.photobucket.com/albums/m...ikepics067.jpg http://i299.photobucket.com/albums/m...ikepics062.jpg http://i299.photobucket.com/albums/m...ikepics063.jpg http://i299.photobucket.com/albums/m...ikepics065.jpg http://i299.photobucket.com/albums/m...ikepics064.jpg http://i299.photobucket.com/albums/m...ikepics071.jpg http://i299.photobucket.com/albums/m...ikepics070.jpg http://i299.photobucket.com/albums/m...ikepics073.jpg |
