I have not been to active lately on the buying side, but could not pass up this Serotta
Campy goodies and Columbus SL and my size should I decide to keep it!

Beautiful Serotta, look forward to seeing it cleaned up!

Picked up a Trek Navigator 200 for a good price. This will clean and flip easily. It is a larger 21" frame too.

1977 Schwinn Metrocycle

Cool old Schwinn with coaster brake SA 3 speed hub. Besides the tires it's all original, with dynamo lights, and shopping baskets. Some new tires, grease, and reattach the trigger shifter and it should turn out real nice.

Keep a close eye on the fork! We had one just like that come into the shop yesterday, and when it was put up on the work stand, the lower half of the fork fell off!? I had never seen that happen before, The bike looked abused though.,,,,BD

Khatfull facilitated this for me, a Colnago Master Extra Light with a full Dura Ace kit. Not exactly vintage but definitely a classic.

Not a C&V, but it is all there and every thing sort of works, two flats.

A bit of work, one shift cable maybe and some kid is going to have a
bike. Tubes? Wheels are true.

Found in a pile of junk along the curb, waiting for the trash truck.

One LBS helps me with a few parts and a bit of labor now and then
on these projects. I will call the Dept. of Human Services and find
a kid that needs a bike and can't afford one. Due to the color, I
think we need to be looking for a little girl??

You found that in the trash? Why would someone ever throw a bike like that in the trash? They must have been drunk!

Think this one falls into the "catch of the day" category, as opposed to the "saved from the dump" category. However, you never know what will make it to the curb on bulk pick-up day!

WNG 07-29-11 08:50 PM

I picked up a 2004 Giant OCR3 road triple with 8 speed Sora this afternoon. Seller called it DCR and probably didn't get many hits. It was labeled as in rough shape, and asking 80 bucks. It looked intact and my size, and the parts alone were worth the trip to see.
It was rough, scratched up, needed a tune up and missing a bolt here and there. But someone upgraded it with an Ultegra FD, interrupter brake levers, and an adjustable height threadless stem. Because of the condition, I got it for $60. I intended to strip it for the brifters and wheels, but now it seems worthwhile to keep it intact.
Seems like I'm finding more modern bargains than C&V treasures this season.

That is a ripe candidate for a steel frame replacement if I ever saw one?:D,,,,BD

Saved from the Scrapyard II

After my Peugot 10-speed last week, I paid close attention to the local scrapyard this week. Found this Mongoose Maneuver. I'm guessing it's 90's (no suspension). It's definitely pre-XMart, because of the quality and the sticker from a local bike shop. I love the combo shifter/brakes, all alloy with just a bit of plastic. I'm on a search for a seatpost--why can't they standardize those, even just a bit! I took it for a short spin (no seat), and it seems to be a very nice bike. Anybody know an approximate age on this bike? Thanks so much.

If it's your size, you should try it out for a while. I've got an OCR2 frame (same frame) that puts the lie to the 'aluminum-is-harsh' myth. It's a comfortable frame, and it doesn't hurt that mine fits 32c(!) tires without fenders.

WNG 07-30-11 02:15 PM

^ That's what I find online too. The 2004+ OCR has high raves and loyal following. I'm not allergic to Al, have several including a Vitus. And the roads here are flat and smooth too.
I think I will overhaul it and give it a spin.

fiataccompli 07-30-11 02:43 PM

I have a TCR...TCR "Team" actually, that was a very nice bike, but I got it for the Campy Record group + wheels & seat and not sure what I'm gonna do with the bike. I rode it once on a 35 mile or so ride and it was a very nice....super light too...like right under 17 lbs built...which seemed light to me for a 2001 bike..

Specialized Hardrock

1 Attachment(s)
Here is a Chromoly rigid Specialized Hardrock that I found curbside with a "free" sign on it. It looks like it was well used, but I should be able to get it functional for a minimum outlay of cash to see if I'd like riding here in the Sandia Mountains and whatnot.http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=212850

I found this Specialized Hot Rocks out by the curb with the garbage. Rear derailer is shot. Cool bike to fix and give to my nephew.

It's really, really beat, though. There were no teeth left on the derailleur pulleys! I had some new replacements on hand, though, so the RD is like new now.

The teeth on the chainwheels are similar. Looks like this was really, really beaten hard for years. Strangely, both wheels are recent Weinmann replacements with unknown hubs.

DiegoFrogs 07-31-11 04:16 PM

and the blackburn MTN rack and bottle cage are both trash.

Nitram612 08-01-11 08:25 AM

I was berry picking behind my girlfriend's family Marine/Winter sports shop and stumbled upon a Fuji S-10 S leaned up against the wall. The bike obviously has not been ridden in many years. The chain was rusted solid and the leather saddle was nothing but mold. The frame is way too tall for me but the components/wheels will work nicely with the Motobecane Grand Touring frame I found a couple months ago. Looking forward to getting this project started once I have the time.

Early 1980's Motobecane Jubilee Sport

Picked this up for $150 off CL for my brother-in-law so we can do some riding this summer. Appears stock with exception of mirror, Huret odometer and "flick stand." Has the dreaded Helicomatic rear hub, but ride VERY nicely. Light and smooth. Suntour Blue Line derailleurs and shifters, just like my Trek.
