1st post, wooohooo!!!!
It's not a freebie, but still a pretty good deal from Craigslist at $30. Seems to be very original and must be one of the last birmingham bikes. I've read somewhere that the last Hercules, before Raleigh fully took over, were mid 1960, but the hub on this is marked 60 9 (Sept 1960) and it seems all herc (except the seat of course, doh!) to my unedumacated eye. Birmingham head badge, H sprocket. I think this bike may even have the original tires. They are bates dunlop lightweights, made in england. The rear actually still holds air. I picked up a tube for the front hoping to give it a test run and make some adjustments. The rim strip is cloth and actually still in pretty good condition. So cool! The test run didn't happen because the sidewall of the front tire blew out at about 15psi. At least I wasn't riding it. I've cleaned it up, freed up and adjusteed the hub and all the cables. To me it seems to be all pre Raleigh Herc. Anyway...here are the Craigslist pics of it (no cleaning and parked for years. I'll get more pics tomorrow because it looks much better now that it's been cleaned. Oh and...anybody got a seat?

Unfortunately, somebody got to the Sante before you did. Still 105 is good stuff and will make a good rider. You planning on keeping any of these bikes?

Why yes I am. It was listed as an early seventies, but as you can tell it is not. I like it though and bought it for less than the asking price.

Just came home with these 3 bikes. A Koga Myata, a carrera and a Libertas Campione(??) Never heard of Libertas. Are they good bikes? Components don`t look that bad

Any info on the bikes is appreciated. But no comments like " Lower the Stem"! Pictures show the bikes how I got them.

This “catch of the day” posting is a bit belated, given that it was about two years ago that I bought this c. ’72 PX10 from a woman who was cleaning out her garage - but I had never ridden it until now, because there has always been some flip that took precedence over getting it road-ready.
I finally got around to it, and (with a little help from FBinNY of the Bike Mechanics forum to resolve a chain skate issue) it is now road ready - even if not entirely original.
I'm sure I angered the bike gods by retiring the original wheels and substituting some bargain Mavic clincher rims with a Helicomatic hub, but with the addition of the 700 x 25 Panaracers, the net effect is one of the smoothest rides I’ve experienced. (I am sure too, there is something magical in that French frame geometry that makes the ride memorable.)
Most of you will also notice that I’ve swapped the original Mafac levers for Weinmanns. The reason is that I’m too cheap to spend $40 on NOS half hoods, when the Weinmanns were free and the Cane Creek hoods only about $8. You’ll also note the exposed “V” at the levers because I simply did not have the patience to remove the levers and fish around for the retainer nut to reattach them after wrapping the cloth bar tape. (I know from experience what a PITA this can be and make no apology.)

Nice score. I picked one of these up for $175 off of CL. Same color minus the Brooks Pro. Flipped it on Ebay for $430. Put nothing into it. Had it been the size you have I would have kept it. It was practically NOS. Too small though. You don't see that teal too often on PX10's. Mostly see them in white.

Someone seriously downgraded that Premis before letting it go? It looks like the components from an 83 Le Tour or something similar. It would make sense if they swapped the components out if the Premis didn't fit them.,,,,BD

HI Mr Crow. Sharp looking PX10. Was white the default color? I read here, probably from Grand Bois that
25" ones were rare on the west coast. I'm done with French bikes, I gave my Stronglight crank extracter to my LBS. Made a donation to their tool crib. Happy trails, ChrisL.

Thanks. I read somewhere (here) that they could be ordered in an array of colors, but white was by far the most common. I know Teal is uncommon, but I would not go so far as to say "rare".
I hope your LBS takes very good care of you : That was a mighty generous contribution, considering what they go for on eBay.

Bikes: 70/71 Raleigh Grand Prix
Dug out a 70/71 Raleigh grand prix from the folks garage last week, cleaned it up put on some new tire's and brake pads still had the original ones on, also some new bar tape. Took it out for a 12km ride today still rode nice but the spokes need some tweaking one rim has a flat spot. I noticed my large front cog has a little bend in it guessing from being dropped at one point in its life didn't affect the chain's working at all; not sure if i want to attempt to try to straiten it out or not ?
