Mostly original 105, but does feature a Campy front wheel and DA crank.
It should clean up real nice.

Chuckk, Cannondale is still honoring a fork recall that your bike may be part of. You can google search the recall number and contact Cannondale for what to do. They can check it against your serial number. If you plan on keeping, and riding, the bike you may want to look in to this. Good score.

RETURN OF THE DEATH FORK! ?
Chuck - look at the CPSC site - HERE . It lists recalls, going way back.

(I noticed this one on the fork, but it was for bikes sold in '85 or earlier.)

Sorry, no "death fork" story here. I had a Cannondale of similar age a while back and someone alerted me to the recall. I called Cannondale, they ran my serial number and said if I took the bike to a Cannondale dealer they would take care of the replacement. I sold the bike and passed the info on to the new owner, so I don't know how they handle the actual replacement. When I saw your bike it looked as though the fork was/is bent a little, so I thought you could use the info.

Way to go ChuckK, I've been looking for one for the better part of a year now. A good deal? Looking forward to hearing how it rides.

Bikes: 1999 Schwinn Paramount, 1960s Legnano

Last summer, I managed to find a Gitane Performance bike in excellent shape out of the dump. Restored it and built it up for a coworker for about $150. When I pulled it out of hte dump, it had some pretty low-end components; suntour shifters & derailleurs, and no brakes, and the wheels were actually non-existant. Ended up using a donor bike pulled out of the same dump to provide some Sora indexed brake shifters, and sold off the parts I wasn't going to use from both bikes, to fund buying some new stuff.

Final build:
Gitane frame & fork, w/ donated seat & no-name AL handlebars, and a TTT stem. Alex wheelset - $20. Truvativ triple crankset - pulled from donor bike. Shimano BB - $20. Tiagra derailleurs, $80, tiagra 9-speed cassette, $35. Tektro brakes - from donor bike. New cables & housings - $25. Tektro brake levers - from donor bike.

All told, I think she ended up spending less than $140 out-of-pocket, and the remainder of the cost was covered by selling off the unused parts. And I got to build my first bike from the ground up. Learned a lot with that build.

It's probably because the bike was a Fuji Touring Series, and it caught your eye.

I don't think I ever posted this bike, which I think was one of my best finds of the year. A Trek 720 Multitrack with a slew of upgrades -- drop bars, 9 speed drive train, bar end shifters and Rolf wheels. It came with a Park floor pump all for the tidy sum of $100.

I had to swap out the stem for one that was much shorter than the one that was installed. I have taken a few rides on it and it is a lot of fun.

It was on the first page of this thread.

This place really needs a visual queue for "old" posts.

And as found:

Brown is probably the worst color in existence but working it with yellow like that made it rather eye catching haha.

Gold housing and tape woulda worked too,but maybe that was more obvious

Yes, I would have loved gold bar tape and housings. But I use what I have: red, blue, green, yellow, white and black. I had it down to either blue or yellow, but couldn't find my blue housing, so yellow "won".

I try to get the bikes to pop, but within the constraints of my budget (I load up on consumables when there is a smokin hot sale).

Marlboro Fuji folding bike
I saved this today, maybe I shouldn't have.....
Anybody know what year Fuji made the folding bike?
I got it for the price of fuel to go get it, about $10.00

That's the thrift store "miracle bike" isn't it, Bill?

- You're sure to make up for the price of the bike ribbon when this sells. -I'd hold it for a few months if I were you, to get the top dollar.

Despite the irony of a cigarette company promoting a bicycle, well worth saving in my opinion. The original components are all crap, but the frame is 4130 cromoly and with better components makes a very decent folding commuter. A little flexy at the lower pivot, but hey, it folds!

Mine doesn't get much use anymore unless we're traveling, but back when I lived in the SF Bay area, it came in quite handy for taking the BART trains during commute hours when full sized bikes were not allowed on the trains.

Built up with Shimano Deore, only original parts left are the frame and seat.

I like the look of your bike. You hit the nail on the head...when I called my wife and told her I had drove over to get the bike from a friend. I said the frame was the only thing worth the gas. I did lie in the first post, it cost me gas and I bought my friends lunch.
I put it in the shed and it will not see daylight until spring, I have too many other projects to do. The first thing I will do is remove the head badge/sticker.

OK, my latest T/S find was a really, really, beat MTB. And I have sworn off MTBs.

So why did I buy it? First, the components are almost all Deore LX: Shifters, derailleurs, crankset. Secondly, I still have a half dozen MTB projects to finish up, and need some parts. Third, it was $5. Lets see: rear rack, usable pedals, seat post, stem, bars, headset, crankset, derailleurs, shifters, trekking bars and grips, LX front calipers, rear Shimano U brake. Got to love the duct tape bar wrap. Took me some time to get that crap off. Bike looks worse in person. Underneath that rattlecan paint is a Tange cromoly frame, fork, and stays.

That frame might actually be pretty nice under there, the geometry has some real hints of early Kona's, Rocky Mountains etc. The MTBR VRC board might be able to help you id it.

edit: The noodle style rear cable guide reeks of late 80's/early 90's Brodie. Rtichey dropouts?
