OH it needs some sort of thumb shifter though.

My first "Catch" in a long while, a late 80's ('87) Peugeot P8, sadly very small at 52cm. Parts are already on a 58cm P8 frame I have.

The 620 is on its way to a new owner tomorrow with some subtractions and additions. I am very happy it will go to someone who will appreciate it and get it back on the road. |

Found this 99 Cannondale M300 in the trash earlier this year. Gears were badly out of whack, but after some new rims, front and rear racks, low front racks, new trekking bar, seat, fenders, and reflective tape, it rides like a dream. Amazing what people throw away. I have all the bags ready to go this summer. |

Picked up a Giant Rincon for $20 at a garage sale. It looked very dirty and grungy, and was missing a seat. Tires were flat and the whole bike was covered in a layer of dust, rust, and grease all mixed into 10 years worth of storage patina. Guy was asking $40 but had cut the price by half by the time I got there.
Cleaned up really nice. https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-z...14-15-40_4.jpg https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-a...4-16-52_59.jpg https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-L...4-17-05_33.jpg https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-Z...4-18-08_14.jpg https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-i...-19-19_694.jpg I'm sure it'll flip nicely on the CL's. |
Nice bike, would have liked to have seen the "before" picture for laughs. Love a good deal.

Hosed down -got the worst of the goo off, In process of being stripped:
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-F...45_Chicago.jpg https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-t...89_Chicago.jpg I was really happy with the way most of the crap that looked like rust was just oil and dust on the surface. After a good polish with Scratch-X and a Caranuba wax of the bare frame it really came back to a nice finish. |
It still amazes me what people will throw out, or sell dirt cheap not knowing. My bike had nothing wrong other than gear adjustment, and it looks like yours just needed TLC. Went to good a home aparently!

This one was one of many junker bikes that a guy was "someday" going to fix up. He had a nice wheel-truing stand in his garage so I can only assume he knew something about bikes. There were a ton of other bikes/frames/parts he was selling too that he had given up finding time to work on -said he was going to focus only road bikes from now on. I think he was just burned out and wanted the stuff gone at any price. There were a couple of Trek 720 multi-track frames that he was selling for $10 each. I should have picked up one of both of those too but they were so tiny.
Somebody at some point (probably not this guy) had sort of ****ered -up a bunch of stuff on this Giant doing many things the "wrong way" which made the rebuild more of a bother than I had thought. At one time a well-meaning somebody must have had the thought of "fixing-up" this bike. Strange as it seems to low-miles to begin with. There was fairly fresh-looking VASCALINE in the bottom bracket -I kid you not. Just ****ed-in on top of the dirty old dried up grease deeper in. White, semi-translucent, unmistakable white petroleum jelly in there. That's the first time I've seen that. It wasn't even mixed up hardly with old dried-up grease below that. The BB was just filled with the stuff. The list goes on with other such issues. Suffice it to say it wasn't a simple tune-up. It needed a full tear-down and strip to the bare frame. I do a lot of English 3-speeds so I'm used to unbodging the hopelessly bodged bike and putting it back to spec. This one was pretty far bodged though. Now it is back to factory OEM specs -mostly. |
I was able to pick up 16 bikes at a local police auction and another 25 from a salesman at our shop that just needed to get rid of them. All the bikes I got at auction will be resold to help fund other projects but there will be a few keepers out of the free 25 like a vintage 22" Specialized Rock Hopper. Pictures to follow as I get time and bring them in for service.

Missed that Terra Runner til now!! OMG that is such an excellent bike! When you're running out of room again, look me up. I am dead serious, not joking at all! Getting an 83 Stumpy yanked out from under me a month or so ago left me wanting another big LUGGED mtb with bullmoose type bars.,,,,BD
I have a set of Deerhead thumbies that would fit right in on that bike.... |

$175 seemed like a screaming deal to me-
http://i.imgur.com/ffGyil.jpg http://i.imgur.com/h8vKVl.jpg Album- http://imgur.com/a/60j9I#0 From what I can tell, the only thing on it that isn't OEM is the pedals. Pretty excited to have a bike worthy of the wheels I picked up earlier this spring |
Picked this up yesterday... will be riding it like I stole it for a long while.

Awesome bike! Just found out that "fat bikes"(? hope that is correct) exist. Just weird and funky enough looking to be desirable.

Sent the wife out yard sailing on Sat since I had to work at the bike shop and she did very well, she picked up a new in the box Miami Sun adult trike with optional Skyway mag wheels for $150, a new Fuji 27.2 micro adjust seat post for $1 and a 26x1.95 tube for .50. Not a bad haul if I do say so myself.

Great GJ! I passed on one in excellent condition and my size recently for like $75 or something like that. I just had too many bikes that filled its position, unless I start to break each type down by nationality... I bought a new Mountainbike this weekend, so I don't see my bike budget allowing anything like this in the near future. |

I bought them as a pair at a fantastic price. I intend to flip the Grand Touring. I will more than likely keep the Grand Jubilee. At last count, I have 16 complete vintage bikes (no including frames). I fully understand the hesitation in taking on another. |
