Yep, I had no problem with the price.

Very nice score and beautiful condition. Dibs! lol!

Great find on that Trek! Wow!

Picked up an XS 1992 Paramount Series 70 MTB, not exactly a deal for sure. But with a nice Tange Prestige frame, and built by Panasonic, why not? I needed a nice XS frameset to build a bike for my wife.

This makes 3 1992 Panasonic built Paramounts in the fleet: a series 5, a series 7, and this one. I also have a 1992 9C frameset in the to be built pile (Kestrel built). Now I need to find a series 90 in a medium size.

All of the series Paramounts had curvy chain stays that year. They actually did it for several years, 90 KOM, 91. 92, 93 and probably more.

Nice score on the Paramount MTB, I'd like to try to find one someday.

Although the color scheme of the Trek differs from the 82 brochure, I'm pretty sure this is a 1982 750. Tubing is Reynolds 531/SL, and it came with a full Campagnolo NR group. The bike is in amazing condition, it looks like it was hardly ridden. Fits me perfectly. Here are the as-found photos, prior to cleaning and tune up.

No eyelets? No problem :)

Even the tires & tubes were pretty well preserved!

The rack will go, and I'll need to make plans to sell my TX300.

djyak 01-31-13 03:45 AM

What a great looking bike! I bet you were smiling the whole time forking over the money.

wrk101 01-31-13 07:05 AM

Lovin' that Trek! And your size to boot! WOW!

Chris_in_Miami 01-31-13 08:05 AM

Thanks guys, I'm pretty stoked!

Seems that the 400's were TT, 500's 501 w/TT stays, 600 were 531cs, and 700 were 531c.
(I think that "cs" meant "customer select" or maybe that the 600's had TT stays, too)

I had heard it was Club Sport? 531 of any iteration is worthy, however. Nice find! I'd ride that:D.,,,,BD

And that 750?? Damn!! I would love to find something like that, hehe.

thinktubes 01-31-13 09:01 AM

Nice Trek. I love when they use the vertical logo on both tube. Looks wrong, but looks right :)

Is the rack a "Jim Blackburn"?

rekmeyata 01-31-13 10:33 AM

That was a nice Trek find, congrats!! I'm a big fan of those older lugged steel Trek bikes.

Chris_in_Miami 01-31-13 10:47 AM

Thanks again! @thinktubes - no, the rack has a circular logo that I haven't looked at closely, I'm not sure who made it.

I love craigslist for things like this. 90% of the bikes I find, I don't even bother haggling- the price is good enough, and I'm quick enough that it works out. I've had some amazing chain reactions buying bikes from someone, making a good impression, and then buying another bike from their friend. That's the kind of advocacy that would be killed haggling over $20.

Amazing find, I really thought I'd done well buying my beat to hell 610 for $150.

fiataccompli 01-31-13 11:32 AM

agreed - there's good karma when it's a fair price and it works out like that.

toytech 01-31-13 11:46 AM

That is a sexy Trek. Nice score!

Really nice Stumpjumper there and WELL WORTH the price! I would have been all over it myself, and I am pretty thrifty.

Saddle alone covers the price on that Fuji. So the bike was free....

leftthread 01-31-13 07:24 PM

Nice catch on the 750, Chris!

I'm not going to bet you that I'm right, but I recall that Blackburn used a weird shaped circular logo. I also know that Blackburn supplied most of the racks for bike manufactures back in the 80's. My Schwinn came from the factory with a Blackburn rack, but my rack does not have any logo's on it, but the Schwinn Catalog listed it as a Blackburn. Your rack looks identical to mine, therefore I'm sort of confident it's a Blackburn.

Do not use this rack for heavy touring though, it was designed to handle about 25 pounds if I recall correctly. There are a better racks these days on the market.
