It's actually in decent shape, and has most of the original pieces on it, but is missing a few. It is my first lightweight bike, and I look foward to fixing it up and riding it----ALOT.

That's one sweet find! It has got to be the lightest frame from the eighties. You did well!!

Bikes: 1 away from divorce!

The finding has been pretty thin, so my standards for projects has lowered a bit. I usually will not pick up BMX bikes, but this little GT Hybrid looked pretty cool. It has Suntour Accushift AX2000 pieces on it and a 3 speed freewheel. It can be cleaned up pretty well. I just couldn't let it sit for $5. You can't see it in the pictures, but the paint has a pretty cool pearl color to it. Anyone know anything else about these.

1996 Basso Gap from C/L -- got a decent deal. Thomson seatpost/Arione, Stronglight Delta, Mavic Classics Elite front wheel. Want to put 9 speed DT shifting on this one. Been missing a straight up road bike.

Adjusted to my size, but needing a bunch of clean up.

That's awesome! I have one of those aegis frames as well. Not the liveliest of rides (like a log if you ask me) but immensely stable at speed.

I really wish mine hadn't been repainted- I have no idea if it's a trek 5000, or a basso, or any of the other brands aegis made these for.

Yeah it's a 7/64" allen or something close to it that's equally daft. I have mine in my tool box wrapped in a rubber band so I don't try to use it on anything else.

Bizarre critters, these.

Edit: It's really weird, mine had equally lazy pictures in the craigslist ad. I think this one was in the sporting goods section as well. I got it for a song.

Have only ever seen 1 Burley tandem in Australia (a very worn out Rock-n-Roll I missed out on earlier this year). This is a late 1980s or early 1990s bike. The drum brake is worth $$ (maybe USD250 + depending on condition), the rest would be appreciated by those who know what they are looking for. The bikes are heavy compared to the modern kit but very handsome, perfectly rideable and from the days when Burley was still a co-op. Nice find!

Found this 1981 DX-4000 at a yard sale. Looks like it's almost all original with Arabesque group.

i have wanted a grand prix for a while now, i haven't found one that really struck a chord with me, till yesterday, this was at my coop's storage facility, covered in dust.. its all there needs a lot of love but its my size.. she has a lot of paint scratches on it, and the simplex stuff looks beat... but the nervar cranks are shining up nicely so i think she will be ok.. how bout that seat tho? wow

Ooh. Nice.
.
I have a DX-3000 frame that I got in a free-pile, with a nice selection of parts. The only dislike is the the fork can only clear rather skinny tires.

Bikes: Still a garage full

I currently am in Soprano's land in northern NJ. Tonight, on my way back from Wayne after looking at a Fuji Mixte that didn't pan out, I was heading to the pizzeria via a route I haven't taken in years. Although it was pitch black, on the side of the road lurked a huge pile of trash with some BSOs. Well I doubled back and picked the Fuji Sagres off the top of the pile.

Valite goodness, just my size 57cm. I've been looking for a frame for a beater errand bike that I can ride into Detroit and not worry about it if it's parked out of my site. This maybe better than a beater Centurion Lemans frame that I think is all high tensile. The Fuji seems lighter. Seatpost and stem move freely. Only the derailleur cables seem frozen in the suicide levers.

Two years ago, I trash picked a late 1980's Schwinn Traveler on my way to the pizzeria too.

Multi speed BMX bikes are not that common at all... Raleigh tried to offer a BMX with a 3 speed IGH which was not successful and the GT with the derailleur gear seems a little more practical.

Japanese market children's bicycles are also commonly equipped with 3 speed derailleur gears so it might have been intended for that market.

I have a later DX-3000 as well, great riding bike but yes, tight fork clearance. This '81 otoh was spec'd with 27" wheels so the clearance is great with 700c.

where the hell do you get a 3 speed freewheel?
so this is 2x3?
and what size is the seattube clamp?

It's an interesting discussion over on BMX Museum:

Bikes: I used to have many. And I Will again.

I picked up a more or less original Ross Signature series Minotaur XC hybrid today for $20. I know the Signature bikes were Ross' better made offerings.
I couldn't find much online that matched this one. I think it's a 1992 model from the components and wild day glow paint job. It's neon green and yellow. With Shimano 200CX group, 7 speed freehub, Weinmann USA-made rims, and CR-MO tubing throughout.
The frame looks like a Schwinn Crisscross' twin. (edit, I stand corrected, it doesn't, so Giant didn't make this for Ross.)
I'm thinking 2nd 700C gravel grinder project. Can't decide on whether to keep the stock paint job or repaint it. (I think it will get repainted.)
Sorry, I couldn't wait to start tearing it down.

Yes it is a 2x3 and the seat post is 25.4. It looks a little bigger because of the seat tube thickness. This is a neat little bike and I'm not really into BMX bikes. There are some cool bikes on that site. That NOS Thunder is cool. I'd love to find a few old road bikes like that.
