Hi, do you still have any of these Daccordi 50th? Im looking for one.

My friend Jason texted me during my ride this morning, and says he has a bike for me. Almost everything original is missing, but hey for the price?? I got two large plastic tubs full of parts, most decent or better. Countless brake levers, derailleurs,, bar end shifters, bottom brackets, pedals, NOS early mtb brake cables(Yep the ones that look like rope) Three pairs of modern handlebars, 3-4 decent floor pumps. I just fixed one with a fingertip full of grease, hehe. But best of all this Austro Daimler Olympian. I think the only things original to the bike is the frame, the RD housing cable stop, and maybe the Mafac Racer on the front. Year I have no idea yet, as I just got home and unloaded everything. Even with all of the low end junker parts tacked on, it's pretty stinking light. I am thinking 23-24 pounds? Not feather light, but lighter than expected for the parts on it. 27.2 seat post.,,,,BD

Nice score. 27.2 post and what looks like some box lining on the seat tube would have me thinking higher end for sure.

It's looking better already. The fork would stop moving when I tightened the stem, and I found this, lol!



This is with the loooong Le Tour stem bars. I am limited to .833 stems, until I find my Centurion fork. I am not sure where it ended u, as I didn't sell it. Oh well. I will find it.,,,,BD

A few of my buddies have been into buying storage lockers on line the last couple of months, which is how I picked up a nice ( but dirty ) Nishiki Prestige in my size. Not sure on the year yet but I think it's a 84 or 85 due to the fact that the wheels are 700 & not 27". It has Suntour Cyclone friction components that I would like to find some Cyclone 7000 Accushift Derailleurs to replace them with ( I have the shifters already ). I haven't had the time to check it out yet and get good pictures as I had a major problem with some peg board in my shop which required me to rip it down and start over. While the peg board was down I had to finish some electrical work and insulate.

About a year and a half ago I responded to an add on Craigslist for a Campagnolo Nuovo record rear derailleur for $15.00! I was even more surprised when the guy still had it. I called him and it turns out he used to race in the early 70's and had a set(front and rear) of Rigida blue label wheels with Stella double butted spokes laced to Record High flange hubs with a Regina Oro freewheel for $40.00 and flat type skewers. All his stuff was in great(dusty) shape, they just needed cleaning and greasing. The derailleur is Pat.73 and the hubs are date stamped 71. When I got to his house he said I could have two medium sized boxes full of odds and ends because he was having trouble finding anyone that wanted the old stuff! When I got home I went through the boxes and found a few Campy tools wrenches and crank puller, bottom bracket stuff and a Cinelli Unicantor saddle. I had spent $60.00. WOW

How much does it weigh?

It's long gone, never weighed it.

Not as nice as all that, but I get to dig into my haul from yesterday after work today. One nice part I have seen so far is a Superbe LE Tech RD, which may get sold, since I may never own one of the 3-4 bikes that was spec'd with one. I mean my friend was literally dumping a half full 30 gallon sized hamper into a tub, . We shall see what all the tub of goodies yields for me.,,,,BD

Catch of the Day: Two early 90's Pre-Trek KLEIN Quantum II bikes with Campy Chorus and C Record cranks. Mismatched wheels, but the frames are immaculate, and you can't beat that purple fade paint job!

Found this in the trash today, the person who put it out actually helped me lift it into the car. He was really surprised that the front wheel wasn't on the bike because, when he had put it out 10 minutes earlier, it was the complete bike. He said that he rode it a lot but, aside from the bar tape, the bike looks pretty minty, it just has a find layer of garage dust.

Great find and an easy inexpensive fixer upper

Yesterday I picked up a SuperCycle Medalist Series II mixte bicycle for $20. The seller told me it had belonged to his mother and had been parked in their garage. The bike is in very good condition and I figure it's from the 1980's. All I had to do to get it riding was pump up the tires, adjust the seat and handlebars and that was it. I did take that old seat off and replaced it with a nice fat springy roadster seat. The steel wheels are completely straight and the brakes and gears work fine. I am going to swap the drop bars for roadster type bars with new brake levers and install new tires. Not a bad deal for $20 eh?

I picked up this '87 Nishiki Cresta GT recently and just finished up a complete overhaul. I had picked this up with the intention of turning it into my wife's work commuter however it is too big so I will pass it on to someone else. It is a touring bike that had flat bars when I got it. I put on rando bars and swapped the 5 speed freewheel for a six speed. I have $41 into it. I apologize for the bad picture but it is too late to take a picture of it in the wild.

2 day old ad, and they still had it. Unless something unforeseen happens, I will be picking up a 1985 Trek 620 sometime today. Needs a front wheel, but Helicomatic hubs so no big loss. I can find another set of wheels. Hell I might put the custom wheels from the 520 on it, and find another set for it.,,,,BD


Best of all, it's VERY affordable! My favorite kind of bike. Decent, and cheap.


Got it!!! LOTS of cleaning and polishing ahead. It might be fitted with XT 8 speed, and new wheels. The fork might be a wee bit back, I haven't decided if it is or not. Posting it here I bet will get a few suggestions that it is. It's not much if it is, so I might try to find a shop with the tool for that.



I lowered the stem, rotated the bars back down, and raised/straightened the saddle. Looking more acceptable. I have a feeling the tilted saddle, and uneven footing of the flat rear tire, and add the crooked too high bars, was exaggerating it all.

Nice score! It's got the usual CL "upgraded" gel seat.

I am curious about the ultimate disposition of that Helicomatic rear wheel.

Not there. I think it's a mid to late eighties Schwinn Traveler or World sport wheel that was on it. Smooth square profile, no makers mark, no eyelets, and a Shimano freewheel. That and it had a Schwinn Record tire on it.,,,,BD


I now have a home for the homeless Grand Randonneur bars I scored a while back. That and some nicer anodized 600 levers. The ones on it were kind of generic honestly. The fork clearance on the 620 is different than my 520, I might be able to get some fenders in this thing. With 27 inch wheels on it, there's a half inch or maybe a little more front tire clearance.
