Very cool fillet brazed tandem. Looks like it came with most/all of the bits, too -- including Magura hydraulic brakes! Maxi-car hubs! Oooh! Weird that the fork is drilled and has eyelets for the rack but there are no eyelets on the back. What is the size? We ride a large Davidson fillet brazed tandem from the 1980s -- it is great. If you're missing any tandem specific bits pm me -- there's a chance ! might have something in my stash.

I mentioned this already in my Rossin Find thread, but this is exactly the kind of find that belongs in this thread.
On a ride the other day I spotted this old Cannondale laying on a pile of old wood and aluminum window frames. No one answered when I knocked on the door to inquire about it, so I returned later and left a note. A few hours later the owner contacted me and said the bike wasn’t used anymore and I could take it and wished me a Merry Christmas. I hurried over and collected it. The old C’dale was super dirty and had obviously spent a long time outdoors, but was equipped with a full Campagnolo Super Record group, except for a Nuovo Record RD. Cinelli bar and stem and Mavic G40 wheelset with Campy Hi-Lo rear hub. I’m guessing the bike would have been going to the dump, so I’m glad to have been able to save it. The parts will be moved to my Rossin project. Saved from the dump or maybe from a co-op. An abandoned mountain bike that I got permission to take as no one else was interested. I was originally just interested in the Dia Compe 908 canti brakes as I have two bikes running those now and springs do break on occasion. Then I noticed the Sugino GP130 crankset with rings that may prove useful as I age a bit here and there. And then the FW was practically an unused 14 to 32 Shimano (made in Japan). Fine with me. All cleaned up and overhauled now, awaiting the call of duty. Yup one chain ring bolt is missing - thrown away as it was rounded out and I barely got it off. I also kept the Tange BB then donated the rest of the parts and the f/f.

My size with an LX/XT mix, some aftermarket wheels, and a Marzocchi XC51 fork that won’t hold air. Probably just source an appropriate rigid fork from the collective. Don’t know what I’ll do with it - sell it or keep it? Nice frame, Canadian, reminds me a lot of my beloved but long gone ‘95 Kona Kilauea. Wish I hadn’t sold that one 15 years ago… This is in like new condish so it may hang around a while. N+1 strikes again! |

1986 Miyata 310, $25. I mostly bought it for the frame, but a surprising amount of the bike is original. The stem, bars, seat post, and saddle are crappy aftermarket stuff, not worth keeping. The fork isn't original, but seems serviceable. The wheels are in surprisingly good shape, though the sealed bearings are kind of crunchy...never tried to maintain sealed bearings, so that's going to be a learning experience. Another complication is the Uniglide freehub. I'd like to get a hold of an original Miyata fork, but I don't know where I'd even find something like that these days.
The thing has obviously sat outside for a very long time. The "silver" handlebars were originally black, as could be seen when I unclamped the brake lever and the stem..the black anodization had weathered off. The tires are also completely rotten, but that's not a concern. From what I can see of the inside of the frame, there's superficial surface rust, but nothing structurally concerning. This Trek 420 was getting scrapped due to rust on the toptube cable guides and flat tires. Quick cleanup and new cables, tires and cables and it turned out to be a nice rider.

Not C or V but this Schwinn Wayfarer was left at a rural transfer station and the attendant gave it to my buddy, who gave it to me. Modern little $300 bike with steel frame, 700C alloy wheels (front QR), rear rack and V-brakes. Wish I knew someone who needed a bike. This one gets a rear tube, shift cable, lube 'n' tune or a donation to the co-op.
