Scored on Craigslist about an hour ago: Univega "Custom Maxima"
Got it for a "descent" price (for Portland, OR). Looks to be 100% original, even the tires are branded "Univega".

Sadly the fate of some rintage bikes is what these ones went though, I'm guessing demolition derby, However! I shall save them, I also love that Rapido's stem, I forget name spelling, but the stem loots neat.

The only part needed was an indicator chain for the SA 3 speed hub. ($4) I spent about 6 hours cleaning regreasing and adjusting. The teen aged girl that came over with her parents to buy it instantly fell in love with it. I didn't think any of todays kids could appreciate a semi antique bike, but she said that old bikes have way more character than the new ones do! |
Wow, that is in perfect condition.
Have you seen any of the new Treks or Specialized bikes lately? Many of them look a lot like this old Schwinn but are north of $500. |

Hell of a find. Performance Bike has 700x23 Conti Ultra sports for $20. Edit: If thats an 89 then it probably is a SR800 with Shimano 600 groupe......Only crit model that came in Red that year.. What a find. |

Looked at the frame specs and they are VERY close. The T's have one inch more in the chain stay's and 1/2 inch higher BB. Head is 1degree different but the rest of the angles are the same. If it rides anything like my T700 you will love it. |
So on my way home today I saw a random pile of stuff on the curb, I biked to it but nothing good so I took a odd detour home. while crossing some roads I looked to my right and saw a handle bar on the curb, Well it wasn't just a handle bar, it was a whole bike! and it's only missing a seat, the bikes in very good condition. it's a Raleigh Transit.

For more on the Cannondale 3.0 Frame:
http://allcdale.com/cannondale-30 Its my favorite all-time frame. That cantilevered rear triangle was engineered to make the frame stiffer, not 'more comfortable'. Its the stiffest frame ever made. C'dale has been retreating from perfection ever since. Anything else is just inefficient pedaling. For the 3.0 Frames there is no difference, frame wise, from one bike to another. The only differences were componentry and paint. The lowest end 3.0 got the exact same frame as the bike with Campagnolo or Dura-Ace on it. Cannondale covered the whole spectrum in '89 for the 3.0. Unless I'm mistaken you could get a SunTour Bike, a Campy bike, or a Shimano bike. I've got the .pdf of the Catalog saved somewhere. Nice find. I got mine as a 'barn find' new from a Cannondale dealer around '98. It would probably still be there if I hadn't bought it. A small bike shop in Minnesota for a town that had mabye 1000 people in it. Why they had a 63cm frame (66c-t) I'll never know. One thing to 'know' about your 3.0, according to the owner's manual Cannondale will repaint it for free if you ever 'tire' of the color. I'm got my receipt and my manual, and I've never been able to get them to honor their paint warranty, though. They always just say "we don't do that anymore." |

I do find alot of bikes but the majority are females frames, I take them anyway, well I take any bicycle so it wont be going to the dump, but I long for a men's frame for as project i'm waiting to do.

Schwinn Super Le Tour, as found at the curb with the trash. This bike is a 63cm with
Columbus TENAX decal. The paint is near mint with very few scratches, it should clean up very nicely. The tires (27x1 Circuit Schwinn) and rim braking surfaces show only slight wear. Everything appears to be in working order.
