Unbelievable that this would go to the dumpster!

Scored on Craigslist about an hour ago: Univega "Custom Maxima"

Got it for a "descent" price (for Portland, OR). Looks to be 100% original, even the tires are branded "Univega".

• Araya steel rims are darn near spotless.
• Dia-Compe brakes and levers
• SunTour 7 shift/drive train
• "LIGHT" High Tensile steel, Made in Japan
• SR Stem and handlebars
• nice looking alloy pedals
• Univega saddle
• machined dropouts

Frame's got some typical rust spots for it's age, but really nothing major. It'll need new cables and housings, new chain, maybe a new cassette...dunno.

Man awesome Cannondale find! The only way something like that would happen in my area is if I made it happen or there was a rip in the space time continuum.

Cannondale out of someone's trash was my first road bike! still using the front wheel on a SS bike!

Sadly the fate of some rintage bikes is what these ones went though, I'm guessing demolition derby, However! I shall save them, I also love that Rapido's stem, I forget name spelling, but the stem loots neat.

This Schwinn Breeze was garbage picked by my father in law. I gave it the once over and posted it on CL. The only part needed was an indicator chain for the SA 3 speed hub. ($4) I spent about 6 hours cleaning regreasing and adjusting. The teen aged girl that came over with her parents to buy it instantly fell in love with it. I didn't think any of todays kids could appreciate a semi antique bike, but she said that old bikes have way more character than the new ones do!

Have you seen any of the new Treks or Specialized bikes lately? Many of them look a lot like this old Schwinn but are north of $500.

The yellow Breeze went for asking price; $85. I even threw in (and installed) a retro rear rack.

It is a 1994 in Cayman Teal metallic but some of the specs are different as mine has Shimano STX deraillures both front and rear including shifters and the catalog list it as having only STX in the rear and Shimano Alivio front and Alivio Rapidfire shifters.I think everything is orig on the bike as it still has the stock Avocet Cross 700x38 tires on it,which are in need of replacement.I found one Avocet Cross 700x35 tire but can't find another one to match(had the same problem a few yrs ago in 26x1.95) anybody have one they want to part with.

Welcome to flip city. You could have kicked that one up a notch, but the appreciation is worth the time. Good job!

105 Groupe with Wolber rims?? That would make it a SR600. It rides surprisingly nice for an aluminum frame. Something about the cantelever frame puts a little spring into the rear and takes some of the harshness out of it.
On the flip they are still going for $250. Hell of a find.

Edit: If thats an 89 then it probably is a SR800 with Shimano 600 groupe......Only crit model that came in Red that year.. What a find.

The catalogs are notorious for errors. My t700 has the cranks that were spec for the T1000. The Avocet Cross was the stock tire on the T700 as well. I was a little on the cash poor side when I was fixing mine up and went on the cheap till I could afford a set of Swalbe. Picked up the Forte Gothams from Performance bike for $12 each. Turns out they are actually Pannaracer crosstowns without the reflective side stripe that sell for $30 at REI. 900 miles no flats and ride decent. no complaints especially for the price.

Looked at the frame specs and they are VERY close. STX front and rear, Alivo canti's on mine and Diacompe break levers with Shimano bar ends (well till I upped ti to STI and a 105 rear with Octalink cranks set). The T's have one inch more in the chain stay's and 1/2 inch higher BB. Head is 1degree different but the rest of the angles are the same. If it rides anything like my T700 you will love it.

So on my way home today I saw a random pile of stuff on the curb, I biked to it but nothing good so I took a odd detour home. while crossing some roads I looked to my right and saw a handle bar on the curb, Well it wasn't just a handle bar, it was a whole bike! and it's only missing a seat, the bikes in very good condition. it's a Raleigh Transit.

Its my favorite all-time frame.

That cantilevered rear triangle was engineered to make the frame stiffer, not 'more comfortable'. Its the stiffest frame ever made. C'dale has been retreating from perfection ever since. Anything else is just inefficient pedaling.

For the 3.0 Frames there is no difference, frame wise, from one bike to another. The only differences were componentry and paint. The lowest end 3.0 got the exact same frame as the bike with Campagnolo or Dura-Ace on it. Cannondale covered the whole spectrum in '89 for the 3.0. Unless I'm mistaken you could get a SunTour Bike, a Campy bike, or a Shimano bike. I've got the .pdf of the Catalog saved somewhere.

Nice find. I got mine as a 'barn find' new from a Cannondale dealer around '98. It would probably still be there if I hadn't bought it. A small bike shop in Minnesota for a town that had mabye 1000 people in it. Why they had a 63cm frame (66c-t) I'll never know.

One thing to 'know' about your 3.0, according to the owner's manual Cannondale will repaint it for free if you ever 'tire' of the color. I'm got my receipt and my manual, and I've never been able to get them to honor their paint warranty, though. They always just say "we don't do that anymore."

Nice job on the Breeze, it looks really nice. The selling price was more than fair too.

I do find alot of bikes but the majority are females frames, I take them anyway, well I take any bicycle so it wont be going to the dump, but I long for a men's frame for as project i'm waiting to do.

This past winter my manager gave me a 3-speed ladies Breeze in red that turned out almost as nice as the yellow one above did. A co-worker expressed interest when she seen it so I gave it to her after the make over. The original owner says he also has a matching mens Breeze that he will bring in and give to me.

In Toronto, these old "granny" bikes are hugely popular among the university/college crowd. I think they are a great value as they are pretty cheap and they look and ride very well and no thief will be bothered to steal them. Also, pretty much every girl who buys one puts a basket on it and they are cute as can be....the bike and the rider ;)

Most of the bikes I get are free to me. My Father in law is the best source, as he picks up plenty on trash day along with other sellable stuff, and gives me first pick. The bikes I don't want he sells for 10-50 dollars at the flee market. He makes 'em somewhat ridable and that's about it. Just got a nice 25" Super Le Tour from him last weekend. Pics soon.

Both are actually in really nice condition! The Shogun has Shimano 105 DT shifters and Shimano Light Action RD. The Peugeot isn't too impressive but shifts nicely and eats pot holes well. Total $50 cost for both.

Columbus TENAX decal. The paint is near mint with very few scratches, it should clean up
very nicely. The tires (27x1 Circuit Schwinn) and rim braking surfaces show only slight wear.
