Today's bike is neither classic or vintage, but is is one I will actually be keeping. I have been looking for the right touring bike -- tried a new Fuji (returned due to problems), picked up a few vintage ones (Bridgestone and a Miyata that rode great but were just too large) and bought a Nashbar frame to build up.
Checked CL this afternoon and was the first response for a 2009 Cannondale Touring bike. Little info in the ad, and the owner said it was a T2 but his description was of a T1. Drove out and brought it home for $900 -- with a trunk bag, computer and Shimano SPD/platform pedals.

what is this?
looking for a bike to ride around school and found a Puch cavalier in decent condition and a Montagner that were going to be junked. I know a bit about Puch and that it would make a great college campus bike for me but I have no idea about the montagner. Does anybody know anything about this brand? Sorry I dont have any pics but it was red white and blue 57cm road frame before the paint wore off.

Picked this 1994 Trek 1200 up at a thrift store for $10. I picked up a seatpost for $20 and I should have it rolling soon.

A minor catch, but one too make me giddy as Ive been wanting to find a vintage water bottle that wasnt disgusting, found this REG Cinelli one, it was in the cage on a Raleigh super grand prix which I didnt want, I think Raleigh's use of the word "Super" they meant it in a handicapped short bus kinda way.

So here are a few recent finds, ranging from the Cannondale T1 (bought to keep and ride) to 2 free Prince brand (made in Taiwan ROC, one with a 1975 bike license) bikes that were picked up on the way to pick up the T1. Oh, and a lovely, but too large for me, Nishiki Cresta.

Picked up this Maruishi RX-6 today from craigslist. It's an awesome ride, put some white tape on it and its ready to go. Previous owner fully tuned it.
If someone knows more about these bikes please fill me in..It's hard to find much info about them.

Your Trangressions against paint , Crank and wahtever are forgiven (These things too shall pass). A fixed Speed Thingy (I can't say it either...) Would be the true transgression against nature. I don't see why these fools don't at LEAST make a freakin 5-6-7 Speed out of them!? Makes more sence that standing up on every hump . my $0.02

Here's my $50 62cm Raleigh Touring 18, cleaned, tuned, and already listed on CL:

I like the early Deore group on that, I think it's cooler looking than the Deerhead stuff.

It works beautifully although the m700 rear derailers are not known for having the greatest longevity... the rest of the component group is actually overbuilt.

Didnt shimano make those for a road group as well? I remember seeing a front derailleur on ebay meant for a double before. I'd like to get a set of those for road if they exist, yeah, just for the deer head graphics, silly!

I've got a short cage Crane, so anything is possible I guess. I thought they were only for triple touring cranks.,,,,BS

Don’t have pictures yet, but Craigslist just made my day: Peugeot P18T for $50. Mint condition, owner’s manual included. It will replace my girlfriend’s despised Trek 7100 so she’ll stay off my Cannondale.

I was at the bike co-op today and a lady came in with a mint 83-84 Specialized Stumpjumper with the earlier version of this group on a 15 speed mountain bike.
I told her that her bike a bit of a collector's item.

Heres a better pic of that Raleigh mountain bike. it rides will and I noticed the strange rims it has, It's hard to notice but the rims can catch water in them . lol

Pick these 3 up at a community wide garage sale today........I believe the wheels have been swapped out on the World Sport as they are steel, the Varsity is lugged and has that freewheeling crankset thingamajig, the Stingray is in great shape, the seat is perfect, the fork is straight, alittle surface rust on the chrome bits but otherwise very well preserved.

I guess old road bikes really did have disc brakes... I think I found my new single speed hub!
