Seller says he's "not very skilled at dating bicycles"; nor, it seems, at reading the nameplate prominently displayed in his first photo...

Does that come with the villa and the pool?

https://richmond.craigslist.org/bik/3107677321.html

I bought this bike in 1985 and rode it in the BRAG (BikeRideAcrossGeorgia) tour, then I rode 3 CAM (CycleAcrossMaryland), and just completed the Bike Virginia tour on it. I spent $386 in mid-June to replace tires, tubes, chain, and chain wheel, in order to get it in tip-top shape for the Bike Virginia tour. It rides great. It is Japanese made, not Chinese or Tiawanese, so it is incredibly well made. I have knee issues which now keep me from being able to ride it as much as I want to, and I am going to have to get a recumbent bike to take strain off my knees. I also have a Suteki women's 10 speed, which would need some updating and tune up, and I will sell it for $150. I bought it for my wife, who very rarely rode it. You can email me, or call at 804-467-8935. Cash only and prices are firm. No emails will be opened without the word VIRGINIA in the subject line.
Two thoughts:
1) I'd like to know which LBS charged that much for that minimal amount of work, so I can avoid them.
2) Congrats, if that total is true, you paid more than the bike is worth to have it fixed. Your price (400$) can be firm all day long, but you'll probably never get it. Especially with no photos and no size description.

Hopefully by "Chain Wheel" they mean cranks. Real easy to hit that total if that's the case.

But yeah, everyone's gonna ignore that ad with no pics.

I regret not getting a screenshot from our local classified describing a wheelset as "about as tall as my knee". My last two transactions were with a guy that was about 6'6", and a midget. Honestly. So I really wish I had asked about the wheelset, just so I could, you know, know.

This is the best hyperbole EVER! The next time we get the "what was the best steel bike eve" thread, I can just point him this way.

Up for grabs is a super sweet vintage Fuji road bike. The model is Cambridge VI and the bike has all its original parts. It includes a light that still works that generates with pedal power (from the factory).

This bike is pretty amazing. I believe this was Fuji's top of the line model from the 80's, possibly even the 70's - now it can be yours.

Tires are good, frame is solid.

$250 or best offer.

[h=2]CUSTOM Vintage 1982 Schwinn Classic Bicycle Men's Bike City Road - $1250 (NE Philadelphia 19134)[/h]

Date: 2012-07-04, 4:58PM EDT
Reply to: q3f3k-3118797174@sale.craigslist.org [SUP][Errors when replying to ads?][/SUP]

This is a completely rebuilt, classic touring bike which has been lovingly restored using all high-end, modern components. The frame, fork, 2 fenders and the chain guard are the only original parts. Those were sanblasted and given a custom, 3-tone retro paint job in an auto-body shop. Vintage stickers and badges were used in the restoration, and then all new, top-of-the-line components were integrated to make this one-of-a-kind modern classic.
This collectors bike is 100% ready to ride and features all the accoutrements a proper city bike should have. PLUS, the now virtually unseen 27" wheels were replaced with aluminum versions for a lightweight, super-stylish ride. More details can be found in the photo album by clicking the link below:

https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?s...1&l=67f7572dc7

PERFECT CONDITION in every way. I don't know the exact frame size, but this is a full-size bicycle, built for a larger man. I am 6'1 and this bike is great for me. I would say, if you are under 5"9, don't buy this bike.
ENJOY!!
********************************************************************
27" (!!!) ALUMINUM ALLOY wheels (replaced original steel wheels for weight reduction).

Rear LED lightset, new rack w/ bag.

"Brook's" leather saddle, like-new w/ quick-adjust.

Custom 3-tone paint-job (2010) with authentic replacement badge and stickers.

New Shimano 5-spd. transmission -- Only one shifter on the handlebar, for your convenience.

Vintage meets modern -- the best of both worlds. Aluminum crank for weight reduction and better weatherability.

2 New Shimano double-pull aluminum breaksets.

Heavy-duty LED headlight for nighttime riding. Digital bicycle computer tells speed, total distance, top speed and avg. speed of your ride. And a bell. Aluminum headstock and handlebar w/ bar-ends for comfort.

I'm really pleased to learn that adding the words "rare" and "vintage" to a listing can automatically increase a bike's value to 4 figures. This will come in handy. '

I should post one of those ridiculous ads just to see what kind of responses I get.

Or identifying the country of origin....French Moto's clearly state "Made In France" on the chain stays, this bike is actually a chinese bike manufactured by Motobecane USA. So it's a double fail.

I can think of so many other things I'd rather spend that much money on than a "contemporary collectable".

https://tampa.craigslist.org/psc/bik/3114453198.html

Schwinn Grey Ghost 5speed 2004 - $2450 (Holiday)

2004 Schwinn Grey Ghost 5 speed Krate bike
Reproduced in 2004,.. only in a limited rerun of the 35 year old ultra rare 1970 Grey ghost.
These few 5 speeds were the only remade 5 speed Krate bikes produced.
1999 there were 2k coasters remade only
The build quality is excellent and up to modern standards for a quality bike,
many features like hub brakes and a twist grip shifter make the bike a joy to ride
Collectible in it own right ,and also Very rare ,..

I Bought it new in the box in 2004 Im an Adult collector,it is still mint cond
with a "1970's mint 5 speed frame Shifter" mounted for fun and good looks
the shifters were not remade as they are illegal after 1975
$2,500 or trade
