yeah i was thinking $500 was more reasonable but the rarity of the paint job could push it up for me if i had the money. as noted though, guy looks like he sold it already

Hrm, very nice looking Colnago but is it the angle of the photo or is that top tube weird looking?

Oh snap!

Please note damage to top tube. According to the previous owner, the bike was not crashed but rather subjected to the baseball bat of an ex-wife

I would have thought the damage from a bat would be more serious. Is your spouse attacking your bike grounds for divorce in Oregeon?

Make sure he is single or gay. You dont want his wife attacking your bike either. I recall hearing or seeing such a post. The post where everyone showed where or how they stored their bikes might be the one. I might be mistaken but I recall such a post or story. Friends angry wife getting to a bike in another friends possesion.

I know the Greek economy is in the toilet and people are trying hard to get by but this guy is a real dreamer. I paid less than $100 for my watch and mount. I think mine is nicer too. Now mine was only for a hetchins or holdsworth maybe that is the difference.

This is a beautiful collectors' bike from the early MTB days. It's TIG welded and fully chrome plated with:
Long chainstays and nicely raked fork for real steel comfort.
Bullmoose handlebars and semi-horizontal dropouts with adjustment screws.
It's a 22" frame measured to the top of the top tube.

I added modern brakes and a triple crank to make a commuter for my adult nephew. He doesn't ride now, so I have it back. It really needs to go to a collector, or someone who appreciates a sweet ride. It has modern rims on it, but for $100 more you can also have the orginial concave Weinmann rims, Ross tires and 5-speed cluster! You can see from the orginal tires, that they lived in a garage for almost their entire lives, so they'll clean up great and be like new.

Tell your old timer friends. This really is a sweet vintage bicycle.

I cant even believe this guy.
I asked why he wanted so much for a bike with incorrect parts and told him Mt Whitney's are selling for less in fact there are two right now for sale in the same price range on even nearby and I told him there were fifteen mt Hoods on craigslist right now and there really are!!! 15 of them and for 200 less and most had the original group arrrggs Lame flaky CL Sellers

Lawsuit bait. One of these came in the shop with a completely tacoed front wheel, just from normal riding. I shudder to think how fast the ground would come up at you when that happens at 30mph. I emailed, and BEGGED them to dismantle it, and put the engine on a SAFE bicycle.,,,,BD

Incorrect parts?

At this point it is no longer a classic bike with incorrect parts. It's a vintage frameset that has been totally upgraded/rebuilt with modern components. Even the brakes have been swapped. The only original parts other than the frameset are the bullmoose bars and brake levers. Oh, and the QR seatpost binder looks original, maybe.

I'm not so sure about that because it looks like those are the original brake levers controlling the new V-brakes.

I bet that braking feel is a little less than optimal if that is the case.

But other than the V-brakes I agree that the upgrades are probably fairly nice.

A better upgrade would have been a set of Avid Shorties or some Cane Creek cantilevers. I also wonder if the chainline is set up correctly as well with that "road" triple in front. If he has the right BB then I suppose it is OK.

Another unknown is if he has cold-set the frame or just sprung it from 126mm to fit the modern cassette hub.

Here is one in my neck of the woods I have been watching from last summer. Maybe I should offer him $175. I love it and Im tired of seeing it. There is another one yousually in a hot shower scene for $400. Described as Grandpa's bike but in a bathtub half hidden by a shower curtain.

If he can get it, it's worth it. Can't get it from me, but someone will. Value is subjective. Had one guy off me $75 for a sweet Univega Gran Rally listed at $240. The buyer rode it around, gave me the cash and said thank you to boot.
