Hi - It's a long time ago, but do you have the ads you mentioned for Viscount and/or Lambert? The photo you featured I saw on a Lambert ad from maybe '74, and it looks as though Viscount added their logo. Interested in any Lambert and associated Viscount material. Regards

Lambert chainring issue.
Hi,
I have a question, posted over on the Mechanics forum, about a chainring hitting the chainstay. I thought I'd mention it here also, in case there's any Lambert-specific thought that might help.

Thanks.

What is the bottom bracket, if not original? Can you shift the axle toward the drive side to get more clearance? If the PO installed a threaded bottom bracket, you could put a spacer under the flange of the fixed cup, provided that leaves enough thread engagement for the lockring on the other end of the bottom bracket.
(Many many Viscount Lambert threads discuss their later BB, their own special design prone to failure and using circlips.)
I confess to frustration at the puzzle, that this couldn't have originally had failed clearance, and yet it does now.
But maybe I should just focus on fix.

Found this being given away today....very light! Not sure what to do with it. It had an assortment of components including Campy headset & brakes. The front fork had been replaced with a Cro-Mor fork.

As far as I know, the Reg Harris branded Lamberts were rare, although it's only a sticker! The frame would have been made around summer 1972, outsourced as the first job of a new company set up by two builders known to Bob Thom when a local bike company moved out of Wolverhampton, and probably a variant of one of the better Viking frames and well-made. The tubing was lighter and stronger than 531 and a lot cheaper. PM me if you're interested.

Here is mine that I picked up over the summer. I bought it for the components. The Avocet seat, wheels and crank went to my Le Tour. So, i scratch my chin now and then about interesting builds for this bike. We'll see.

New Lambert and Viscount Decals
I needed decals for my Viscount and noticed that there wasn't a huge selection on the market at a reasonable price. So I asked my friends at bicycledecals.net what they could do and they rose to the challenge with new sets for both Lambert and Viscount bikes. I have the set I want and they look pretty good to me.
New Lambert Decals - 10 and 15 Speed
New Viscount Decals - Aerospace Sport, Aerospace Pro, Aerospace G.P., Gran Sports and Sebring

I have the type 3 AL fork and the steel Tange fork. I swap them depending on the ride.

I think the fork in my Viscount is the type 2 but it might be type 3. I think I'm ready to replace it to make sure it doesn't kill me. Where can I get an inexpensive fork that works well on this bike?

For mine, I happened to have a steel fork of of an old Apollo (Japanese bike) that fortunately had a long enough steerer tube to fit my XL Viscount without cutting or rethreading. The main frame of the Apollo had been damaged and I kept the fork not realizing where I would find a use. Maybe you can find a fork at a local bicycle co-op?
My existing fork appears to be the type 3 as a magnet sticks to the area where a steel insert was installed. I will find out for sure when I overhaul the bike. I really want to leave the original fork on but have the steel as a backup if necessary.

Aha, so if the insert is steel, it's a type 3? Maybe I'll call it quits if that turns out to be the case. Thanks @bikeaddiction1.

Here are two sources of inexpensive forks for your Viscount @noglider . I was looking for a Tange, since that is what Yamaha provided as the recall replacement, but didn't find it with my search. I was also looking for chrome to keep the same look as original or with the replacement fork. My Lambert has a Tange chrome replacement fork.
Ebay Chrome fork for 27" wheels
Modern Bike chrome Sunlite 27" fork
Since the ebay fork is used, it's steerer has been cut to fit an existing bike, but it may not be tall enough for your frame. I bought a Sunlight fork for my Cannondale a while back at it seems good. I wouldn't hesitate to get another.
I know the type 3 forks are the best of the series, and some have said that they are quite good. I would be concerned about riding it unless I know what the failure mode was, it was something that occurred over time, can be monitored and I can easily check the fork before each ride. If any one of those things were an issue, then I would retire the fork.

I am looking for a white and red Lambert bicycle to use as my main ride preferably in good condition, I am willing to pay fair market price for it. Thank you!

Read this whole thread so you know the three aluminum forks. If you get a first generation, don't ride it! There aren't good ones. It will break. (Trust me. I wouldn't wish my journey on my worst enemy.)

I rode a death fork Viscount for a couple of years back in 2010, unfortunately it was stolen in 2012.
