[h=2]Bridgestone MB Zip 19" - $350[/h]

Nice old Bridgestone MB Zip. their top o the line mtn bike of the era.
19" seat tube with 23" top tube (thus the sale, it is simply too big for me)
not original parts but all parts are from the same era as frame.

has typical dings and scratches in paint for bike of this age that has been ridden. but no crashes nor dents.

sorry the full bike pic is rather blurry but it hides nothing. i will happily take more better pix and send your way-just ask!

local cash sales only

please feel free to ask any questions.

thanks!

That's an amazing price for an MBZip. Even if it is dinged up.
Looks like the rear hub is White Industries, too.

what you are missing is that it is all victory and Athena components. If it were all super record or c-record the price would double IMO. It's a long way to ship a bike from Italy, personally I wouldn't touch it for more than 600 shipping included.

I certainly will in three years or so.

Our youngest will keep me busy with soccer tournaments around the US for a few years before he hits college, then its dad's turn to have some free time.

I think you're over-stating that. I own a Tommasini that's all Super Record. IMHO, Athena is perfectly functional componentry, and I think, at most Super Record might add another $250-300 to the value of the bike. C-Record might add another couple hundred more to that, tops.

To me, it's all about the rust by the cable guide. If it's superficial, the bike is a major bargain. If it's deep into the tube, it's a pass.

Generally if the bike lacks a top of pyramid gruppo, or has a mix, you're looking at not much of a premium over frame value. Most folks buying that will want to change the group - meaning they have to pull this one off. It's another step, and it's not that valuable afterwards. There also aren't that many folks who really enjoy selling and shipping on eBay. So now you're reducing the pool of potential buyers who will frequently just wait for a frame, or a complete bike set up the way they want.

In this case you have a fairly easy to find bike with parts people don't want and what looks like rust from a trainer. I'm not surprised at all that it hasn't sold. Even if that rust is superficial, it's priced at about market for a colnago with Athena and victory. A touch under. With c record, in solid shape, value goes up by over double.

Not too bad of a price for something with RSX brifters, Mavic wheelset, and a San Marco saddle.

Mongoose road bike 56.5cm

[h=2]Mongoose road bike 56.5cm - $250 (Old town alexandria)[/h]

I'm selling my Mongoose Iboc Crit road bike. It's 56.5cm and would be good for someone plus/minus 6' I think. I'm 5' 8 and it's always been a bit big for me. I've owned this bike for 10 years and have probably only put 500 miles on it but I am the second owner. It's in generally good condition. The front shifter sticks a bit and I haven't ridden it in awhile but I did get it professionally tuned before storing it. I've always kept it dry. The bike computer should be replaced with a new one. It has shimano components and mavic wheels you can see in the pictures. It has a mens San Marco seat on it. It also has an adjustable stem which can really help with fit and the riders preference of uprightness.

Depends upon if you're buying it to ride, or to collect and hang on the wall. If you're buying it to collect, the rust on the frame is enough of an issue on it's own to be problematic for a relatively common frame - and I agree that the mixed mid-range components are not what's being sought. If you're buying it to ride it, there's no need to change out that gruppo, and that's a very cost effective way of getting a fully rideable Colnago (assuming the rust is not serious enough to be a structural issue). And of course if you're buying it to ride it, the buyers pool is further reduced to those for whom it's the proper size.

Certainly, a pristine Colnago with C-Record will sell for much more due to collectibility, but the operative word there is "pristine" even more than "Record".

Unlike many older bikes being bought to ride - user condition Colnagos don's show up in junk yards and priced for $200 on Craigslist, because even the illiterati have heard of them.

That's true - but it also typically means you're seeing less competition from other buyers and can get it cheaper. I'm not saying you'd have to remove the group, or that it isn't a fine rider. I am saying that the price of a bike with an athena-victory mix on ebay typically isn't much higher than frame value. The impact of a top shelf group is more than your stated $200 in my experience. Especially with c-record, which sells high on its own and on bikes.

Bikes like this can make great donor bikes too...you buy it like it is for around 600...harvest the group for a rider - sell the frame for about 500ish. Or, if you're after the frame, buy it for the 500-600, throw the parts on a mid-range frame you have laying around (like a Cannondale, or middie Trek) and sell it on your CL for 300-400.

In this case, I don't think the bike is a screaming deal. I don't think it's unreasonable, but I'm not surprised it's sitting either. It's priced appropriately, perhaps a touch high for this time of year. It likely will sell, but I'm not surprised it isn't selling like a hot tamale.

For someone looking for just the frame, there is one that size in Chicago for $125 - Bridgestone Mb-0 frame and fork

Looks pretty rough and would require close inspection, but it might be what someone here is looking for.

This has been available for a very long time, so one would assume there's wiggle room on the price?

Dang! That Olmo is neat. I like the fact that it has Galli components. (I think the Galli KL rear derailleur is the best looking mech...) Too bad it's a couple cm too small.

I would pass. There are plenty of high quality steel bikes for sale with better groupsets for cheaper if you keep your eyes peeled.

Because I did not know I could get a new 105 11 speed group for $350. I also do not own 11 speed wheels.

I also already have a set of 9 speed Ultegra Brifters in my parts bin. I actually just finished testing them. They pull and 8 speed Dura Ace RD flawlessly.
