There are some other options. MXLs move quickly on Paceline and velocipedesalon. Probably not at that number, but not that far from it.

Bridgestone RB-1, rare 47/51cm size for 4'10 to 5'4" riders, excellent - $1000 (cupertino)

If you love classic, iconic road bikes and are between 4'10" to 5'4" tall, (or know a special someone who is) please read on.

You may already be aware of the enduring desirability of Bridgestone's top of the line road bike, the legendary RB1. Well thought out high end componentry. Ishiwata 019E and 022E quattro-butted steel tubing, lugged together in size specific smart geometry that works.

What you may not know is that 1990 was the ONLY year when Bridgestone made the smallest of RB-1's, pictured here. 47cm seat tube ctt, with 51cm top tube, ctc. Delightfully low standover height of 28-1/4". Low bottom bracket, 165mm cranks. All with standard 700c wheels.

Years before Grant Petersen founded Rivendell he knew how to design a great riding bike. He knew there were riders of your height who wanted quality. Maybe there weren't enough of you in 1990 and this rare size was discontinued.

Here's a link to the 1990 Bridgestone catalog. You can navigate to other years to confirm the rarity of this size: 1990 Bridgestone Bicycle Catalogue

This collectible example is in superb original shape for its age, with extremely low miles. All original drivetrain right down to the still-as-new Suntour Accushift Plus chain and Suntour dork disc! Original white bar tape! Only the tires/tubes and saddle are not original.

Even sports the bike shop decal from the now defunct Aardvark Bicycles in Sunnyvale where originally purchased. Classic.

Frame is perfect, no dents or dings. Just a few expected scratches in the paint. Original two tone paint colors are Prism Blue and Tusk White. Wolber wheels spin straight and true with smooth Sansin hubs, shifts flawlessly in all gears and stops on a dime with high end Dia-Compe brakes and levers.

Comes with your choice of pedals and saddle (Sorry, the Special Edition White Brooks Pro is not included. Just wanted to see how it looks with a white saddle.) Prefer bar end shifters? I have bar end adapters and cable stops for an easy swapover.

$1000

Interested parties please reply with contact info so I will know you're not spam.

His is 11 years newer, looks immaculate, molteni, with the threadless stem/fork. It also has a ti campy post, record 10sp and the highly desirable campy silver record hubs.

classic and vintage must count for something plus mine was Michel Zanoli's so that must have some appeal to a certain segment of the population. No way am I selling mine.

I'd say you could get that kind of money (I wouldn't sell it either).

I've wanted an MXL and it just never works out.

Don't sell that bike.

Ride it.

Enjoy it.

I talked to some of the guys at the shop the other day and they said it was outrageous.

FLAGGED! OK, I admit it. It's fun to flag when it's obvious.

Saddle and stem are worth the price of admission, so "Yes."

Lots of people like their Super Courses: 3 main tubes 531. Nice commuters.

Definitely worth it...saddle and parts would make the $75 easily. Even if the seat post is stuck...

Nice-looking Schwinn. Color scheme is very Motobecane-esque.
