I don't know if it's a total ripoff. The bikes do look pretty nice and he says he put a lot of work into them.

It just takes a while to find a buyer that wants to pay him well for his time spent working on them.

And the buyer should understand that if they want to recoup their money spent on the bike they'll have to carefully hang it on a wall and expect it to take a long time to resell at the price paid.

Or just pray for a big increase in demand.

Waterford RS-11 60cm

[h=2] Waterford RS-11 60cm - $600 (Cleveland)[/h]Pedals, bag, seat, ciussi cage NOT included. I can put on generic pedals and seat if wanted.
For local pickup within 100 miles of 44119, might ship if you pay for it.

Rides great. Light and smooth. Shifts are crisp, ready to ride. There are a couple paint chips but no dings or dents at all. I just bought this last week it was advertised as a 54cm, it is just too large for me. I may trade for similar steel ride in 54-56 size range.

Witcomb frankenbike

Really crappy ad and it looks like the fork, bars, and some components are not original. But someone might still be interested in the frame and some possibly nice components?

I think his $4500 Casati is indicative of what he is trying to do, fleece people.

How about this Tommasini in Denver? Very well priced at $800 plus it comes with a Tommasini jacket!

not sure but he wants $175 for shipping when its specifically designed to fold into a small light package. hmmmmm
It can barely and meticulously be packed into a box which is 26" by 26" by 10 inches, the maximum size the airlines will allow and not be oversize. The weight of the bike doesn't change just because it's in pieces. Mine is packed and ready to fly north tomorrow afternoon. Part of that seeming high price might be related to the packing of the bike. It's an art form.

Older Schwinn paramount. Awesome bike I just am ready for 700 not 650 wheels. Great for female beginner triathlete or cyclist. I used this bike for my first and only beginner triathlon season 3 years ago before babies came. I'll answer questions I know but would be best to come check it out. Thanks! Just got tuned at Endorphin fitness
What a tasty treat that one is. And I'll be in Richmond Thursday morning.

i despise ads like this one...no pedals, saddle or bag...if that is how you plan to sell, then take the pictures that way! Or...if you want to sell it with a different saddle, put it on for the pictures!

I despise ads like that because that $600 Waterford in my size is not within driving distance.

On a moral basis he's ripping people off, on a technical basis he's not. I don't know how to explain that. Like I said earlier put into a different way, if I'm looking for something and no one else has it and I need it bad I will pay whatever it takes to get it knowing that I'm being ripped off. I hope that made sense.

I'm tempted to see this bike in person myself. I'm more comfortable on a bike with a touch more seat tube, and a slightly shorter top tube. Does anyone have any familiarity with the RS-11 model in particular?

I've met the man, been to his house and he has quite a collection. He was very nice and from my experience, doesn't negotiate on his prices. All of the bikes I saw were pristine. I bought one for a family member, likely paid more than I may have paid elsewhere, but the '87 bike was truly like new. He gave me a tour and I saw the bikes mentioned above and many others. He obviously loves and knows about bikes. I am also surprised by some of the prices, and since he certainly knows about the bikes, expect he sets the price based on where he values each bike. In other words, the silly-expensive bikes must be bikes that he loves and will part with only for that high price. I don't see how that's immoral or ripping people off, but that's ok.

This has been on CL for two weeks. He just dropped the price to $400. I almost drove to get it, but 6 hour round trip was just to much. $300 and I would have been in the car, but he had 5 calls today and won't budge on price. It was his dads bike, been hanging for 10 years. He knows nothing about bikes, so a bit hard to get details. Looks like an '87 or so world champ frame(Stephen Roche), though I couldn't find any other pics with full chrome rear.
