This is not a CL or eBay deal and may not even be a good deal. But I saw an interesting bike yesterday (Weds 8/4) at Chicago bike co-op Working Bikes, and it was not sold as of late in the day. Working Bikes will not be open again until this Saturday AM 8/7.

It is a large frame (c. 62cm) Torpado Super Strada, good condition, NR drivetrain, Ofmega cranks, pantographed T chrome fork, other pantographing. Very handsome bike, matches the description in the catalog page on Torpado at CR, except it has Mavic Rims and the hubs...I don't remember. I didn't take a real close look at it and couldn't have ridden it if I tried. Condition looked very good. Price is $700, which is probably high, but if you're looking for something like this in an extra-big size you may not have many choices!

Working Bikes site pics indicate it's been there since last November, but that may be a mistake as I haven't seen it there. I would not be able to look at it for anyone on Saturday as I'll be away.

I saw this myself yesterday and have to say that the gears in my head began to turn. I've been wanting a Superbe or Superbe Pro group for a while, but $350 seemed a little much for the group alone. Does anyone know anything about that frame? Any resale value?

I don't know what condition the parts are in, but if they're in good shape, $350 is not high on a pro group...probably a little low.

If I still lived in Ga, I would have picked that up already. A gold Superbe built with Superbe Pro...pretty cool.

Dunno 'bout resale value, but IIRC, the frames were 531SL, probably Japanese-made (which was actually a step up from the British "craftsmanship" of the day). Nice cromovelato finish too.

Not entirely sure these are Pro components. There were two Suntour groups listed as Superbe and Superbe Pro. Both great groups but the Pro was best.

I've seen photos of that bike...TOTALLY WORTH IT! Next to maybe Sachs, he'd be my top choice for a build. Him or Kellog.

1984 Trek 620 Touring Bicycle - $300 (Germantown/Mt Airy)

Reply to: sale-bvtpe-1883963198@craigslist.org [Errors when replying to ads?]

1984 Trek 620

Check out the original catalog here:
https://www.vintage-trek.com/TrekBroc...Touring.htm#21

22.5"/57cm seat tube. Reynold 531 CS steel, lugged frame.
This bike came equipped with some of most reliable parts for its day and they still work great: Original Huret Pilot Front Derailleur and the legendary Huret EcoDuopar rear. Original Dia-Compe Gran Compe cantilever brakes.

The wheelset is not original, but I can sell the original wheels along with the bike if you're interested. Wheels are very lightly used 700c 36-spoke with Araya rims. Barely used Shimano 600 freewheel 12-26. Tires are nearly new 700x32c Schwalbe Marathon touring tires.

Brake pads and cables are all nearly new.

All it needs are rack and panniers to take you as far as your legs care to pedal.

Bike doesn't have bar tape in the photos, but I have some ready to put on (black cork tape). I wanted to get brake levers adjusted for new rider before bothering to put tape on.
