sorry, just looked and didn't find a spare (probably broken and I tossed it).

My reco; unless you just HAVE to use a Vitus guide, replace it with a Shimano or similar unit, even if that means tapping a blind hole or even drilling AND tapping a new hole to get it aligned.

They last far longer and are far easier to find, even come in choice of color: black, blue, or purple (but not silver-gray AFAIK)

I'd say get it. I've had three of the 555SL versions of these bikes because I love the paint scheme. I have never seen on made in 753 ever. Can't be many around. I wonder what size it really is because no way that's 50CM frame.

You guys are the worst, now I really have no excuse to not take a look at it 😎
Looks to be 57-60 or so from the pics?

If I were a betting man, I’d put my money against that being a Reynolds 753 frame. The decals are off, and custom or not, it just doesn’t look right. I’ve had a couple Raleigh 753 frames in the traditional paint schemes, so maybe this is just different paint. I suppose the serial number would solve this.

753 Raleigh ?

I’ve never seen an sbdu built bike with a Raleigh cycles of America badge. It would have Raleigh England badge right? Saw the FB post of catalog page ; looks like a match to me…tell tales would be look at drops outs , fork tips, bb shell

I've got to admit this one has me wondering. But, it does not have a pantographed fork crown like the Raleigh 555 ones nor the fender braze ons mounted to the rear dropouts.

Maybe, but there's two catalog pages where the bike is a near 100% match. If I get a chance to buy it or at least take a look at it I'll report back to the forum to confirm/deny that these 753 Raleighs are out there to be found.

I think you’re right. I didn’t click on the second catalog image. Looks like it is a match. That’s an interesting one!

if it DOES turn out to be real, your girlfriend should come around to appreciating your business BRILLIANCE when this appreciates in value (crappy decals or not)...so how can you lose?
:D

no kidding! $1100 is WAY too high for Aelle, filth and some of the fuggliest bar tape i have seen in years!
But since it was used with (more fuggly) "triathlete bars" the paint defect on downtube (if that's what you ref) could be just from sweat, but another indicator to any potential buyer: "caveat emptor, dude!"
