Well, we're not really talking about quantity so much as prices. Portland is a city as well but I'll be damned if I see bargains even approaching some of those posted from Boston, and if they do pop up, they're spoken for within minutes.

Also, that Bridgestone isn't quite what I had in mind - there have been quite a few 531 bikes pop up for ~$100 - less than what a Varsity typically gets posted for here.

If I had more money, and more importantly, more SPACE, I would jump all over so many of those deals -and they would never get posted here

Vintage Motobecane Road Bike - $500 (Doylestown)

Date: 2011-11-30, 12:20PM EST
Reply to: sale-cvpd4-2728519230@craigslist.org [Errors when replying to ads?]

This is vintage Classic Motobecane Road Bike The frame was made in France. It has the names Grand Luxe on bottom bar and Tour de France on the top cross bar. top bar (horizontal) is 22" from center of head tube to center of seat tube ). The vertical Seat tube is 23"( from center of bottom bracket to top of tube) I believe this bike is from the early to mid 1970 which was a time in the biking world when the best components made in France and Italy were getting a run for their money with high quality componants that the Japanese were introducing to the market for very affordable prices. This Bike reflects this shift. It has a Made in France Reynolds 531 chrome molly tubing frame with HURET FORKS and I believe Neuvex lugs. I don't know if all the componants were original to this bike when new or if they were added on as upgrades.
Derailler is a Huret (french),
cranks are Stronglight as are the main front sprockets (marked 52)
hubs and quick release levers say Phil (on hubs) and Campagnolo (on skewer release levers).
wheel rims are Flamme Italy.
brake calipers and levers are Shimano Dura Ace,
shift levers are Suntour,
handle bars and head set are PIVO (france),
top bracket is Stronglight,
leather seat says made in Italy, the stem says Anpi.
All components are in very good condition and work flawlessly. Everything about this bike is sound and in good usable condition. The leather seat is excellent with some loss of black where it has been worn off , The grips should be re wrapped and the tires need to be replaced ( they are the glue on type rims. The rear rim could use some truing but is not too bad. The left brake handle lever has some tape on it I don't know if it is damaged or the rubber hood is ripped but the brake functions perfectly good. There are numerous scratches and rubs and scuffs from use but nothing major. This will make a great bike to use as is but will be spectacular with some restoration work. A great Vintage road Bike for the classy rider. Please ask any questions and I will try to answer them as accurately as possible.
This Item is located near New Hope PA (7 miles), Doylestown PA (6 miles) in zip code 18925. It is approx 30 miles north of Philadelphia. 70 miles south west from New York City, 15 miles from Trenton NJ. To pick this bike up. I will be happy to meet somewhere that is mutually convenient in my area (up to 10 miles) or you can come to my residence if you prefer. For questiions please Email or call Steve at 215 589 8581.

If I had more money, more space, and most importantly a car to go check them out, I'd be constantly writing Rocket-sauce asking him to take stuff down. But I don't, and my wife thinks we have a good number of bikes, so I just come here to look at the pretty pictures.

Yeah, space is a big problem up in the Boston area. Go check out a typical greater Boston apartment and you'll see what we mean. That and my wife isn't a huge fan of seeing bikes coming in if she doesn't see them going out as well.

I guess 40,00 euros was a bit high. It's only about $750 per bike. You would need a facilitator extraordinaire!!

Colnago Super frameset with full Campagnolo Super Record components. Cinelli stem and bars. Saturae rims. Circa 1984. Frame refurbished by Spectrum Powderworks in 2008. Non-original decal color. Great bike, but I don't ride it enough to justify keeping it. $1300 OBO.

Heres one listed in Denver for $25 what looks like a pretty nice 80's Centurion. Based on the crappy and and pics it just might last long enough to someone here to get it.

Seriously gorgeous presentation for a $325 bike! I am stunned by this one

https://orangecounty.craigslist.org/bik/2690439089.html

Here's a 1985 Bertoni Italian 12-speed bicycle. The bicycle has been cleaned, greased, lubed, tuned up, and rides perfects. In storage for years, the decals flaked off, and I removed what was left. The frames is ~58 cm (center to top) with a ~56.5 cm top tube, built with Columbus tubing and Gipiemme dropouts.

It comes equipped with:
3TTT Mod. Grand Prix handlebars
3TTT stem
Universal Mod 77 brakes, and Universal levers
Mavic Modul "E" rims
Ofmega hubs
Suntour Superbe Pro rear derailleur (with sealed bearings)
Campagnolo front derailleur
Campagnolo friction shirters
Sugino Super Mighty double crank
Ofmega bottom bracket
Ofmega headset
Campagnolo seatpost
