Looks bent, but we've fixed worse than that.

This looks interesting. The seller has some good photos. The details on this bike are the sort that make my toes curl and my heart flutter...

Bring two-thirds that amount in cash and make an "on the spot" offer.

If everything checks out, it could be a excellent rider for sure.

Just looks grubby in the pics.

An early 70's Schwinn Superior. $100 would be worth it for the frame. The saddle is nice too.

Seller states that frame and fork are straight. Check out how the bars are tilted, front wheel somewhat forward.

We all need to shoot pics of our bikes with "View" cameras that allow for distortion correction.

Unfortunate for the Raleigh Professional, its whacked.

I saw this under the Cinelli search on the local CL:

https://losangeles.craigslist.org/lac...306366188.html

Not a Cinelli, but maybe the bars were.... no it is the stem, an old steel one with the badge. Going to need a total rechrome, it will take the seller quite a few messages from those who know to advise while there is some value there it all stops with the bar and stem, his $995. bike is probably a $95. sale.
From the "When you don't know much but can reference some and hope department".

I don't know. I think the brake levers are the real travesty on the Raleigh. Take the fork into your local frame builder and tweak it straight if need be. Campy brake levers with nice hoods can run some bucks.

Cool bike. But would have to nix the Japanese components.

I don't know if this is a good price but Cannondale tandems always look good to me when I see them roll down the road.

https://orangecounty.craigslist.org/bik/4315340469.html

[h=2]Cannondale Tandem - XL/S - $700 (Tustin)[/h]

Nice Cannondale Tandem - I believe from 1989

XL Captain and Small Stoker
I'm 6'5" and my wife is 5'3". Would work for a captain over 6'1" and stoker in the 5' to 5'5" range.

A blast to ride. Paint is in good shape with a few chips on the top tube. Has been used and maintained regularly. We live in a hilly area so has a nice granny gear for the steeps.

Cassette: 6 speed
Crankset: Sugino GT Triple
Front Deraileur: Shimano Deore
Rear Deraileur: Suntour alpha-5000
Brakes: Shimano
Wheels: Suzue Hubs laced to Ukai Rims
Shifter: Suntour bar end
Levers: Mafac

Yeah, it is really not a fair angle to make that assumption on the Merckx, so I just as well could seeing something that is not. There can't be that many bent forks posted here the past few days, can there?

But you bring up the need to be wary when purchasing a used bicycle.

We've all been burned at least once, haven't we?

The guy knows about the fork or he would not be asking almost 200 bucks of shipping, that bike is a good donor of parts or for somebody that has one with the frame busted or sombody that has one of those forks. 200 bucks tops.
