Awesome beast! 1898 Waltham Orient 5 Rider Tandem Pace Racer Bicycle Original Condition
1898 Waltham Orient 5 Rider Tandem Pace Racer Bicycle Original Condition | eBay

You are viewing an 1898 Waltham Orient 5 Rider Tandem Pace Racer Bicycle. This recent barn-find that was purchased at an early Hershey meet in the 60's. The serial number is 21008. The bike finish has one red or maroon finish over the original black. The front emblem is in excellent condition. This amazing bike has a most unusual chain design. There is a story of a team of five athletics from UCLA that rode an antique Waltham Pacer from California to Florida. This was in the 50's and this would explain the non-original pieces. The hubs and sprocket are original on the rear wheel. The rim appears to be typical of the 26 inch Whizzer. There are several non-original parts on the bike and I am not the expert so you must rely on the images for this determination or email with concerns.
The following was an excerpt from the book "Collecting and Restoring the Antique Bicycle, "In the course of an event the solo rider would cycle wheel to wheel with his pacers. A star rider would expect five or six changes of pacing team in the course of a mile record attempt, each change-over to be executed with the greatest of skill".
This item will need to be professionally crated. Our local crating and shipping company is Orange County Crating. This crate will be approximately 14 feet long, 3 feet wide and 4 feet tall. The bike and crate will weigh approximately 200 pounds. This item will be shipped from Orange, California 92867.

De Bernardi Road bicycle 52 cm
[h=2]De Bernardi Road bicycle 52 cm - $800 (Watertown)[/h]

© craigslist - Map data © OpenStreetMap

prentiss st at belmont st
(google map) (yahoo map)

condition: excellent size / dimensions: 52 cm

For sale is a very nice vintage De Bernardi road bike. This bicycle frame was built in Italy, in the 1990's. It was built with Columbus SLX NEW tubing. The paint on the frame is pretty good for an Italian bike. There are some spots that definitely show wear, but there is no rust. The damage to the paint is purely cosmetic.
This bike is a little under a 52 cm. The bike measures 51.5 cm center of bottom bracket to center of top tube. The top tube also measures 51.5 cm center to center.
This bike is equipped as an 8 speed, with Campagnolo brake/shifter levers.
The wheels are hand built.
The headset is a Saavedra headset.
The seat post is a Titanium American Classic. The saddle is a Titanium Flite saddle.
The brakes are Campagnolo Monoplanar brakes in great condition.
The front and rear derailleurs are Campagnolo.
The bottom bracket is also Campagnolo.
The bike does not come with the pedals. Sorry I did not take them off before I took the photos.
This is a very light bike for being a steel bicycle. I have not ridden it too much. The bike, built as it is, has been ridden maybe 2-300 miles.
The price is 800. Please email me with any questions. I will consider other offers as I do not ride this bike. Thanks for looking!

Great road bike at this price. One of Schwinn's higher models of the day. Built with Columbus Italian steel this is a real road bike. The bike has Suntour Edge components 14 speed and Belgian Alesa rims. The bike does show mileage and some cosmetic age but has been fully tuned and rides great. Awesome bike if you're looking to get into road biking without breaking the bank. Snazzy Captain America paint scheme.

Eddy Merckx Century Team Kelme in beautiful condition. Handmade in Belgium from Columbus TSX steel, a fairly rare and certainly desirable Italian tubing. Complete Campagnolo Chorus 16 speed component group. The wheels are hand laced Campagnolo Chorus hubs, bladed spokes, Campagnolo clincher rims. Beautiful example of a true, handmade steel Merckx with full Campagnolo. I believe the frame is a 1989 but I'm not 100% certain. This bicycle is very rideable, and very collectible.

This is a very clean and classic Italian racer. It features a full Campagnolo 16 speed group, predominantly Chorus level with Mirage shifters. The group includes the Campagnolo seat post, headset, and custom built Campagnolo wheels (Chorus hubs, Ypsilon aero rims, bladed spokes.). The bike has a beautiful, high quality finish. The bike has been very well cared for. It shines.

Very interesting--I hadn't heard of that bike and its infamous "death fork". Sheldon Brown says never ride one although he did for several years and survived.

Miyata 1000 LT Full Touring Bike
[h=2]Miyata 1000 LT Full Touring Bike - $550 (N. Reading)[/h]

© craigslist - Map data © OpenStreetMap

Rte 28 (Main St)
(google map) (yahoo map)

condition: excellent size / dimensions: 57cm

You are buying a gently used in excellent condition Legendary 1989 Miyata 1000 LT Cr-Mo Touring bike. Pretty much all original with a few upgrades or small changes listed below. Many considered this to be the best production Touring bike of it's day and the 1989 Model being one of their finest year! This touring champion has been gently used (I think just used on 4 trips...Michigan, Nova Scotia & PEI, Upstate New York and New England) and it's just been tuned up (plus new brake & shifting cables installed) and ready to take on the world!!!

Miyata 1000 LT Model
1989 Edition, Serial # RW----
Spline Triple Butted Cro-Moly lugged frame & fork
Made in Japan
57cm Seat Tube
56.5cm Top Tube
32 1/4" Standover (with different tires it's probably right at 32")
Mainly Shimano Deore components (Triple 170 mm Crankset 50 x 42 x 28T Biopace Chainrings)
Ukai 700C Rims on Deore Hubs, this year they went back to 36 spoke front & rear (before they used 40 spoke rear) as these wide Ukai rims are so strong the extra spokes weren't needed!
CST Ciudad Kevlar 700 x 32mm tires with reflective stripe, normally I ran Continental 28mm Gatorskins but this set of Ciudads was recommended for the rough roads of New England and performed marvelously comparable to the expensive Gatorskins!
7 speed cassette
Cantilever brakes
Randonneur handlebars
Beige or Champagne color??? Not quite sure as I'm a bit color blind

Here are some changes / upgrades that have been made;

Shimano Barend Indexed shifters (I think they are Dura Ace?)
Nitto Technomic long stem
Longer Kalloy seatpost (approx. 70mm longer then original Sugino), I still have the original shorter Sugino seatpost as my taller son used it on the New England trip and purchased the longer seatpost. If buyer rather have original shorter seatpost please specify
Newish Black color cork bar tape
New generic pedals with Toe Clips (sorry I'm keeping the SPD for my other bike)

Issues;

Small ding on non drive side of top tube (left side, see photo #15 ) about 3/8" long (does not affect strength or performance)....this was caused by the bars swinging around and the barend shifter banged into the bar which was on the first day after installing the long Technomic stem (before with the shorter stem the barends went under the top tube), since this happened I always use the top tube protector (which I will include, photos 14 & 16) which not only protects the tubing but adds comfort for the male rider!
Shimano 600 Aero brake levers; left side is a bit scratched up, right side a thin piece of trim fell of (both levers function quite well). I thought about replacing them but figured the new owner may want to upgrade to a set of non aero levers anyway
Very light mounting marks where my son installed a kickstand (only very light mounting marks nearly invisible, no crimping...see last photo)
Small rubbing on lower Head lug of down tube from frame bag (see photo #11 )

This vintage beauty rides like a Cadillac and is a better alternative to those Made in China TIG welded expensive bikes (sorry Surly!). Please serious interest only, prefer phone calls. Happy and Safe Cycling!!!

Bianchi Premio 22.5in Road Bike
[h=2]Bianchi Premio 22.5in Road Bike - $250 (Porter/Davis Sq. Somerville)[/h]

Charnwood at Willow
(google map) (yahoo map)

condition: good size / dimensions: 22.5 Inch

This is a 22.5 inch Bianchi Premio road bike in good condition. This is a great bike-- very light and responsive and perfect for weekend rides or even light touring. It should fit people in the 5'9" to 6'2" height range.

This bike was purchased from Bikes Not Bombs 3 years ago, and was rebuilt by them. It has a Shimano Altus rear derailleur, and the original Suntour front derailleur. Tubes are Tange Infinity Cro-Mo double butted. Plenty of wear left on the tires and brakes.

Frame has light scratches in the paint from normal use, but no serious issues. Bike is ready to ride.

1930 prewar bike Manton & Smith - $425 (west county)

Prewar Manton &Smith "Special". Lightweight bicycle.Has old Goodyear  26 x 1.375 racing tires,New Departure Model D hubs. Coaster brake. I have had this on my shop wall for years.Looks neat,but definitely shows its age.I don't know what is original to the bike.I assume the wheels and frame,not sure of much else.I added the handlebars, and have the originals. The ones pictueed are new Soma Lauterwasser 1930s style bars.Badge is in good vintage condition.Has a worn old leather saddle.The markings look Âsian. friend suggested it is from an old Raleigh knockoff.The sprocket is a little wobbly. Chain is not on in pictures but is now installed. i have period time pedals, has chrome pedal cages and leather straps.The rear hub is rusty and pitted,the front looks good for its age.The wheels have all of the spokes,spin freely and will need only minor truing.The rims have original paint,with wear,and some paint spatter on the rear one.The handlebar stem is rusty and pitted.The front fork may be original to the bike,but looks a little older to me.The paint is shot,probably an old black repaint,that is very deteriorated.The Tires look good,,but are cracked in one area from sitting flat for years.I replaced the tubes. a while ago.Look at the pictures,and contact me with any questions.

Vintage GT Tachyon 700d / 650b road bike - $350 (west county)

Selling a GT Tachyon bike, around 56cm. The stand over height is 31". I'm 5'-10" and the bike fits me well.

These were made by GT in the late 80's or early 90's with a proprietary wheel size that they made up (700d). It turns out 700d are just 3mm larger diameter than 650b so 650b tires fit on these wheels and the brakes will line up with any 650b wheel.

Tange Infinity MTB double butted chrome-moly, tig welded frame. Sakae triple crank, 7 speed cassette = 21 speeds, indexed thumb shifters. Suntour XC deraillers, 3 bottle cages, cantilever front brake and U brake rear. Full Wood fenders, rear rack, extra Kenda 650b tire. The stem is flippable so you can change the height of the bars, supposed to be able to switch from more upright touring to down low racing I guess.

It's a pretty solid touring bike with 650b tires, kind of cool, it's a great gravel grinder for the Katy trail. Pump and bag not included.
