What a pal!

It's even somewhat local for him.

Be nice to have.

And wants to do local pick up.

An off white?! And COLNAGO panto stuff? That stuff has to go, lets see, that will help offset the price a bit, maybe $200 for the seatpost as its the early complicated version. I cannot tell about the crankset enough, its Colnago pattern. If that is original paint, it has not been used much.

See Picchio, leave Mario's name out of the header and it drops off the leader board.

Or, maybe his time has past, on to Pergoretti.

Looks re-finished to me, and not re-finished before 1982 so the "story" is kind of hmmm to me.

One could ask Cyclart if they were willing to pay for the information.

I am a little short this month. Maybe we could set up a time share for it. We get 52 people together and it is only $260 a piece and we each get it one week a year. That is about what I generally pay for my bikes.

Maybe he is the one offer.

How on ebay does this buyitnow or best offer work? Is a later offerer given any response that their offer is not as much as the prior one? How long are these listings good for? I did not see an end date, but I have not used ebay at all since they changed the graphic layout, maybe I am just missing it.

The seller has a certain amount of time to consider the offer (I believe two days). If it's accepted, the bidder is obligated to buy. Last time I submitted a best offer, there was an automatic acceptance generated and I won the item, which I believe might be a new option for sellers - if you meet a certain price, it triggers an auto response. Later offers are not privvy to prior ones. If someone hits Buy It Now, the item is sold and the best offers are null. The one current offer on the Confente was declined and was from a bidder with 902 feedbacks, so I'm pretty sure that rules Joe out. Store items used to have a "shelf life," but I don't see one for that item either, so maybe it sits indefinitely, I don't know.
Your thoughts on the absence of chrome on the fork?

It's too small for me.

I don't care for the color but it certainly is well done.

Thank you for the explainer on the buy or best offer format.

Not all Mario's bikes had chrome, even the early ones.

This bike has conventional shift cable routing, a sensible Confente? Conservative, no flash, easy to keep up.

The color is close but very different from what is expected. If it was repainted at least the painter had the restraint to not adorn the pump with graphics. It was not repainted to maximize its value. it would be different for that.

by accident I found out how long the listing is for. It is for 30 days. It only shows up when I logged back onto ebay and there is a region that displays previously viewed items. Otherwise there does not appear to be an closing date shown.

I found that out too. I first found out when I made an offer which was declined and then was informed how many hours I had to make another offer.

Huntington Beach, CA = Surf City, USA

It's not that far from me but I have no interest in such a high priced bike that is only for a show (Concours d'Elegance). I like stuff I can ride.

No reason whatsoever not to ride it - I would.

I agree with that, the only difference between this and another big dollar new bike is that replacement is a problem. So I would ride it with riders whom I knew, and keep clear of the cat 5's.

And triathletes who like to do group rides spending the whole time in their aero bars.

What kind of offer, an offer of $1,350? as never can tell, the extra zero could have been a keystroke error... One can wish.

You are correct, guys strong enough to keep pace, but no bike sense what so ever.

A fair one, ATMO. But not extravagant, which is what the seller is fishing for. I have a pretty good idea of what the bike's worth in the current market. I didn't expect it to be accepted, but you never know. It's about a half cm small for me anyway.

I have an idea what one in a similar size was sold for. That was before the bubble on houses and stocks burst.

The current owner is expecting this to be an object of desire. Big desire.
