two free treks
so a few weeks ago, i told you all how i asked about two trek road bikes sitting in a church parking lot and the manager of the place said i could have them for free. well, after a few weeks, here they are:

an early 80's trek 560 pro series road bike, with suntour cyclone m2 drivetrain, matrix 700c wheels and sr crankset. a little bit of cleaning it up and new tubes, its quite a nice ride.
then there was this one, a 87'ish 560 pro series road bike with shimano 105 everyhting and bio pace chainrings. very nice, but i am unsure about biopace. just knowing that they are not round, yet eventhough they give me no reason to not like them, in a performance view.

not bad at all for free, save the cost of two tubes and four new tires down the road to make me feel better about the tread on these tires. the lbs that i showed the too were all so eager to talk me into a new set of tires for both. now since i mainly ride old beach cruisers, im probably gonna flip at least the turquois lookin trek 560 and maybe keep the black. any closer guesses to the actual year of manu****uring of these two 560 proseries treks would be nice to know. the first on who wants to pay $100 plus shipping from 96097, its theirs.

Bikes: Too many to list, all titanium or steel.
I picked up a Trek 400 series last week that has the same crankset as your black bike above. Using the information on serial numbers from the Vintage Trek webpage (https://www.vintage-trek.com/) I found that it was built in 1985.
Since both of yours have Aero style brake handles, I assume they must be a little newer than '85 (I have an '89 with a set up very similar to the blue bike).
I'm sure you'll find a taker on buying the blue bike. $100 plus shipping is very reasonable.

If you have a serial number you can look up when they were made here:
https://www.vintage-trek.com/SerialNumbers.htm
If you really want to give one of those away for $100 I'd definitely take one off your hands.
You could probably get a lot more for them though.

Looks like the Teal is an 86-87 and the black is an 83-84. I had an 86 orange to red fade 560 pro series. Nice bike. The handling seemed a little twitchy to me though. If I lived closer I would Def. buy the teal one. Shipping from CA to Philly would be about $70.00 $100.00 is a real fair price. Put it on Ebay Bet you'll get close to $300.00 IMHO

great find. my trek 560 is the same year as your teal and white one (although it is the higher level shimano 600 equipped version). i have to imagine they are the same frames and i can say that it's a great ride. i can't speak to the biopace stuff, however ...

I have a Campy equipped 1985 Trek 600, that I love dearly. Great steel frame!
I also have a Specialized Hardrock from 1993 with BioPace chainrings. I must be some kind of unconscious nut, because I can't tell the difference by riding it.

Too bad you are so far away. I'd love that teal one. I'm in So cal though. 92324
I have a 760 that needs that exact front fork, exact color too! Mine is slightly tweaked.
It looks like you got two great bikes. What is the size of the teal? If it is 54cm then I really would like to chat.

Very, very jealous, as I'm currently hunting for an '80s Trek so that I can match my girlfriend's ride. In fact, I just found a lead on one on the local craigslist this morning, but I can assure you it will be much more expensive than "free."
