I might be bringing a Trek 660 with mixed NR-Japanese parts and a 1992 Miyata 916 with tri-600. Miyata is missing decals, but paint is Beautiful as are components. I'll also be bringing a set of 27 inch super champion alloy clincher rims laced to SR hubs with DT spokes...regina 6 spd free wheel.

Tell the wife its a Halloween decoration...a scary ghost ooooooooooooOOOOoooOooo |
Seriously, I have a Surly Cross Check with 18 speeds and super light wheels and tires. I have a gorgeous McLean road racing bike from 1982. What niche could an International fill that these two bikes don't serve? |
I'm bringing a bit more than originally planned, but I probably still have extra space. SingeDebile may have a couple things, but if anyone else wants to split the space, let me know. Come join me in the rain!
|
How late does it go? There's a slim chance I could arrive late. I don't think I'll be able to come at all.

What niche could an International fill that these two bikes don't serve? Well I had a successful swap. I dropped the ball on meeting up with other C&V'ers who were there unfortunately. I was so wrapped up in the goings on that I didn't even check my phone before I left and would have noticed JunkYard texting me :o sorry dude! The bikes I got however are pretty cool. I scored a Team Miyata. Looks to be sometime between 82-85 looking at the catalogs. Serial Number is M220639. Someone suggested to me it might be made by Koga, but I'm not familiar with the Koga-Miyata love fest. http://lh6.ggpht.com/_C_ZmRsQylO0/St...0/img_0606.jpg My other score was an Austro-Daimler AD Inter 10. Its full 531 Frame Forks & Stays, Shimano Forged dropouts in the front and rear with an adjusting screw, Shimano 600 brakes calipers, a Shimano 60 (not 600...just 60) FD and just kind of a mess... The other Austro-Daimler's i've seen on this forum made me want to check this out. No clue about what year this one, i'd guess early 80's... the serial # is 5697423. http://lh6.ggpht.com/_C_ZmRsQylO0/St...0/img_0625.jpg Here's a Photo album with more detail pics. http://picasaweb.google.com/alario/TrexlertownHaul# |
Ya bum, couldn't even stop by to say hello! But I can see why now - that AD has Normandy Luxe hubs, I believe? I had an AD pass through my hands once - nice frame, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. Check the date codes on the Shimano stuff, if they are marked. It may be mid to late 70s.
http://bulgier.net/pics/bike/Catalog...Inter%2010.jpg Nice catch on the Miyata, too. I had a pretty good day selling, enough so that I have more bike spending money! I was limited in my opportunities to hunt, but thanks to SingeDebile, I did get a chance make a few quick rounds. Snagged a Sugino Mighty seatpost for $10, Nitto Tech Deluxe for $20, and a set of steel British pedals for $5 (turns out the cones are badly pitted - oh well). They look like these, if anyone can ID them (is 717 a brand?): http://i.ebayimg.com/09/!BcLI,ugB2k~...(F5Qw~~_12.JPG It was great meeting and sharing a space with SingeDebile. Also good to see Machin Shin and jebensch again, and to meet PogueMahone and jgedwa for the first time. |
I thought I had a good time and a good haul of little bits, and now that I've seen that Miyata, sir Craven, I'm humbled. Nice! Another esteemed C&Vr (Citroyen?) had a Team Miyata frame that Is gorgeous and thankfully not even close to my size.
Low key for me today. I finally got a Stronglight 93 for my UO-10. A Campy 8sp wheel for $5 (will post a pic for I.D. soon) and some odds and ends for the tool box and supply drawers. There were fewer C&V frames than I expected, but I had a really nice afternoon just shootin' the breeze with the friendly guys from the board. Good to meet some of yous! Regret of the day: passed on a HF Record hub to pair with an orphan I have - guy wanted $25. Went back to get it and he was no longer there and his buddy said he'd obviously been confused 'cause that hub should be $100. D'oh! |
Spent every penny I came with. Lots of smaller things, including:
-Klein Mission Control bars/stem. Had to buy the crappy frame it was on to get it. But whole thing was only $20 -a couple of nice old cranksets. -beautiful pair of old Shimano 600 pedals/cages/straps -Ideale saddle -a couple of interesting stems -a couple of nice seatposts - and 5 wheels from one of the bike shops up front that had a whole jumbled crate of used wheels for $5 each. I fished out some that seemed useful for something or other. Yee Haw! And nice to meet a handful of BFers jim |

I was asking what I thought to be reasonable money for it and was ready to throw in a period correct Dura-Ace seatpost in the required 26.8 size. 57 cm C/C size. I also put out quite a bit of eye candy. |

SingeDebile, however, scored quite a jewel himself... |
I almost put in a bid on a Zinn in my size, really a nice frame, but I just sold, oddly doing most of my selling in the last hour, though not to the guy who offered me 100$ for a fully chromed, Campy equipped Mangusta (and then seemed to get offended that I wouldn't "bargain"). Sold my old tourer to a really nice guy who looks to both take good care of it and ride it.

Everything was either too large or too small! I almost bought a gorgeous Eddy M. super corsa, but I waited and thought it would come down in price. Ended up selling. I also put serious thought into buying the red Harry Quinn, but the seller was a bit odd and we couldn't come to an arrangement.
I ended up coming home with a lot of money through a day trading thing that worked out. I bought a GORGEOUS Ciocc...just BEAUTIFUL...but it was too large for me and I elected to sell it there rather than bringing it home and selling it for more on the bay. |
Did anyone find a dust cap for a Campy Triomphe pedal? The Univega seems to be missing one... (no, I'm not serious, unless you found one!)
Sorry I missed you KonAaron, but perhaps we crossed paths and didn't realize it. |
Didn't find a dustcap, but I am pretty sure I ended up mistakenly taking an Aqua Nishiki frame that was in your booth. Should I ship it to you?

Yee Haw! Aaron - was it that soft blue Ciocc with the yellow-edged black type logo? That thing was excellent. My own rehabbed Ciocc is an approximation of that same bike. Sorry it didn't fit you. |
No...it was red...absolutely stunning...looked NOS. The guy I bought it from said it had been sent back for a factory repaint. It had the pantographed campy parts and an awesome black san marco rolls royce that I kept.
I wish to hell it had been my size...almost nothing there was 52-54 cm. I should have bought that red paramount...I didn't feel like I knew paramounts well enough to go in, and now I'm regretting it. There was also a pretty cool cinelli made centourion that sold from the same guy. |
You mean the '72ish one? He wanted way too much for it.
There was a guy with a '73 Raleigh Professional for $500 that I was tempted on.. Did anyone see the Dude with a a whole ton of bikes over by turn 3, On in particular was a no-name lugged Chrome frame from the 40's or 50's that had a super cool 3 speed derailleur system and a hub that was a flip flop 3 speed freewheel/fixed cog. It was super cool. I might have stopped by your table KonAaron and not realized it. |

As I left, I found and purchased one of these for about 75% of what they sell on ebay, before shipping. Do you think this is wrong to put on my planned Dura Ace 7400 Greg Diamond build? I don't mind the skinny look, but I don't particularly like the logo (apparently, the orange was a test only saddle distributed to dealers). It probably wouldn't show in pics, though, and isn't that what's most important! http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2424/...28ee6417a8.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y21...d/P1160612.jpg |
Craven Moarhead, that Astro Daimler is an excellent find, and that Miyata frame is a true beauty. I bet the Miyata rides like a bat outta hell.
|
Thanks!
I did a little more serial number research and the A-D appears to be from 1976-77, and it would seem that very few of its parts are original. I love the paint job on that Diamond. Cherry! |

was he on the outside and selling his stuff off of a blanket? if that was the same guy it was probably me that stole that from ya. I picked it up and gave it a quick look over and asked how much, my mouth hit the ground when he said $25.......the money was practically thrown at him!!! |
