Must be a tall rider. That looks like a 23" frame and talled up more than usual, something you don't normally see.

Doing some milestone anniversary shopping I came across this, a basic old Mercier updated for townie duty.

Thought you all would like the headbadge

That's an odd looking brake caliper

thumpism 09-13-20 02:11 PM

Spotted these while out and about. While not a bike it certainly was eye catching. Sure glad my head wasn't in it.

This looked suspicious. Probably stolen and abandoned, a basic GT mountain bike. I hope someone isn't missing it too badly.

Didn't look to hard at the caliper. The bike was in for a tune up at the builder's and I was in for some work and saw it and asked to photo. I like his stuff and thought the head badge was cool........

Schwinn Moab something.

considering how easy it is to open handcuffs with a paper clip, that would be considered a free bike around here. :p

Not only are handcuffs in general a bad idea as a pin of a any thin shim will pop them, these are novelty handcuffs that are designed to take a key or a pin as they have a slide hole on the side to provide access for the pin.

Isnt that slot to double lock them so they don’t get tighter when you get in the car?

paperclip? You don’t carry a handcuff key?

Usually the hole for the pin (double lock) is on the corner.

These might be S & W as some of theirs have the double lock set up that way. Alternatively they are the cheap aftermarket ones used for parties I do not attend....

That bike was a bad, bad boy. It needs discipline.

Spotted this near perfect Mercier mixte in the middle of the shopping district this weekend.

Parts looked pretty original.

Yes indeed - pity this poor pedaling fool and cross his palm with a 63cm Litespeed Alm! I have always been intrigued by the Litespeeds, or other Titanium bikes. I probably don't really need one but would like to try one out for a while. I was doing some grocery pickup when this Tuscany owner had briefly locked up at the same bike stand I was at. He was an older guy, maybe pushing 70. The Litespeeds are non-existent around here.

I hate to be that guy, but I don't get it.

How often can you say that you've seen one of these in use? ;)

This owner is begging to lose the bike.
It should be yours.

thumpism 02-09-21 05:18 PM

Was circling back to get a pic of a van and spotted these in a dumpster in an alley. Cheapo 3-speeds, a blue Murray and a red Free Spirit. Both have Shimano rear hubs and the red one has a Bike Machine 2-stroke bike motor driving the rear (tire drive). If these had had Sturmey hubs I would have had to get them and I might still go back for the Free Spirit. It looks like it was made in Japan. Hate to see bikes in the trash.

I actually had one of these motors in running condition years ago and sold it on Craigslist to a fellow.
