I wash i could find a catalog or something that listed all the available colors & also what components were available in colors.
Shifters, pedals & Rear derailleur are all i have personally seen.

My Projects:
1) Vista Aerodynamic- needs new paint decals & general overhaul.
2) Panasonic DX 2000- needs paint. Needs a Takagi/Shimano, Tourney crank that seems impossible to find!
3) Ride more & work on bikes less.

In order of importance:

1-Centurion Cinelli Equpe. All parts on hand, need time.
2-Centurion Ironman Carbon. ditto, with frame enroute.
3-Centurion Ironman steel (86). all parts on hand, need time.
4-Mondonico SLX. gathering parts without haste.
For the first time, ever, all are for me, and all fit.

E tu?

1. Peugeot UO-8 -new fork, wider rims/rubber,possible new 27 rims. Also needs fenders and a front rack.
2. Peugeot PX-10, bike is in boxes, needs total inspection and re-assembly. Then I'll be able t ride it and really find out where I am.
3. Trek 610, Selle Ana saddle needs lacing. Would also like to rake out the fork to 65 mm.
4. Work on me! I'd like to do a metric thie winter, maybe the first 200k brevet in Ohio, this March. This is the biggest project.

Plus there's a Prudent Person project. I like the ride of the UO-8 so much that I think this is what Mrs Road Fan needs instead of a zippy hybrid. A Prudent Person would start collecting parts for such a project early.

Ivan, I think my PX-10 project is a 1968 or 69, too. Want to compare notes on the bikes and see if they seem to be the same year? I'm not sure there is a definitive date available from looking on-line.

Belg-Ital Steel 12-13-09 09:03 AM

1. Complete build of tube shifting Ridley-painted as a the first year Spar team bike (130mm rear drop-out) using 8 speed campy parts, to include brifters-need to get off rear and get it going.
2. Decide if I want to build-up Fondriest Wind-using Shimano 600 stuff or get it out of the garage for other pending projects.
3. Move wheels, seats, etc., around on 10 other bikes, so I can grap any of the lot and ride, w/o a special plan before I can use one.
4. Find really nice older steel (80-88 timeframe Ital-Belg) frame for build up with Dura parts. but first will likely have to clean the garage before I can efficiently do any of these project/fit more "stuff" in the garage.

Lenton58 12-13-09 09:49 AM

Two on the Way — French & Austro-Italian

Top: A Vitus in 979 Durall with Sugino 75 drive and brakes, Mavic wheels and head, Campy Record hubs and other bits being Shimano, Nitto etc

Bottom: A chromed Simplon in Reynolds 531 with Campy dropouts. Stays were spread slighty for 130 mm. So far: NOS Campy Record crankset. Tange Seiki head. Non-indexed vintage, long-cage Suntour RD. Plan for clinchers this time on new Mavic rims.

Gotta luv it! :)

Waiting for the LBS to replace the "death fork."

And a Jamis Ventura Sport frame I plan on building up with Tiagra and 105 STI stuff for my nephew. Waiting on the fork and headset.

nahh 12-13-09 10:59 AM

(not all vintage)

1) 1978 "Renegade II", not sure what this bike is, but it fits. currently making it a. townie/utility bike. probably flipping for $100. ($50 profit)
2) 1970's Schwinn Traveler II frame, building us as a "shop bike" for my dad, basically something to get around campus on.
3) 2005 Scott SUB 30, drop-bar conversion. finished, except for a need for a shorter stem. this is my training bike.
4) 1970's Carlton road bike, set up for cyclocross. I'm just getting this from the seller this week, hopefully. Will be set up as a CX race bike until February when I have a race.

that and a Nishiki frame that I have no use for, it's just laying around.

Scooper 12-13-09 01:10 PM

I've just got one current project, and it's building a custom lugged steel frame (double-butted O.S. chromoly) then building it up with 10-s Chorus. I've signed up for Tim Sanner's basic framebuilding class in Palo Alto the first week in January (Jan 4-8), so I'm hoping I come out of the week with a nice frame to build up.

Here's the BikeCAD drawing of the project bike:

RobbieTunes 12-13-09 01:24 PM

Awesome. If I had time, I'd list the sheer number of bikes being worked on (or built from scratch, Scooper) I've read this thread in its entirety about 4 times now, and keep seeing cool projects I'd like to see being done...

Another thing, is a lot of posters I've not seen or read before. Thanks for expanding the frames of reference, so to speak.

:D What? That bike is in perfect working order. Just a little spit and polish is all that's needed.

Road Fan,

PM me...
I am out of town for another week, but when I get home I can take detailed BEFORE shots of anything you want to see.
My dating is approximate of course, base on the internets and the original owner's memory.
Here is a photo taken by the person I purchased it from to get you started.

1. Kogswell P/R build (64cm 700c) Build will be strictly from the parts bins at least at first, then who know
2. 84' Schwinn High Sierra MTB-My longest project ever. Finished with the overhaul and noticed the bent fork. It is now close to two years later and it has sat fork less since. I have a replacement fork that I hope will work, and need to get it put on it.
3. Flipping=finish as many of the bikes I already have in time for spring. Go through the parts stash/personal collection/random places for parts to sell. After New Years I can usually sell stuff again on the local CL.

1. Wife's 79 Collegiate Sport 10
2. Wife's 74 Breeze 3 Speed
3. Find something to work on for myself

southpawboston 12-14-09 11:54 AM

right now:

1) 1985 shogun 2000 (completed two nights ago)
2) 1978 raleigh competition GS
3) 1980 univega gran premio (flip? or keep? can't decide)
4) ???

#1-2 can be seen in links in my signature

dudeona3V 12-14-09 01:42 PM

1.) AlAn Record with "off-brand" (Ofmega, Galli, etc.) group
2.) Austro-Daimler Vent Noir II clubman conversion
3.) Stumpjumper that I bought new in 1983 - complete resto
4.0 Serotta "nephew" bike - hot-rod with extraneous Ultegra/D-A

USAZorro 12-14-09 02:28 PM

001 - 1973 Raleigh Competition - to be my beater bike, for now at least. Have to build the wheels and lacking headset, but otherwise pretty close to having everything done.
010 - 198? Colnago - setting up as friction shifter for my son. Shouldn't take much, but he isn't going to ride before spring
011 - 198? Novara - also for son. Needs the paint finished, and I also put off getting the 8, or 9 speed drivetrain stuff I had hoped to get for it in favor of some other things. it will get built before next summer though, jan.
100 - 1939 Raleigh Gazelle, ladies model, three speed, rod brakes.

I'm not gonna spill the beans on the velo-cheapo project though, and out of respect for robbie, I won't mention any of the other things I have sitting around.

fender1 12-14-09 03:18 PM

Right now...selling all of the accumulated bike stuff form the last couple of years on ebay, now that I am down to 3 bikes.

Future...Probably starting the whole process over again, and trying to find/buy back all the stuff I sold previously. It is not the kill, but the thrill of the chase.
