Cinelli 1" Threadless Stem?

I picked this up a while ago and have never been able to find any information on it.

It's a 120mm 1" threadless stem. The clamp diameter is 26.0

The stem works by splitting in half. It looks like Cinelli was trying to come up with a way of allowing stem swaps without having to remove bar tape and levers?

Anyone know any other information on it?

See any modern bike. Same principal. Stem swaps are all like that now.
There were also quill stems made that opened up in front, same pricipal, you can swap the stem without affecting the bars.

No, the stem halves horizontally... Here's a picture:

I understand the principle in modern bikes now, and other stems (Such as the 3T motus) but thought this was Cinelli's first experiment with allowing that feature in a stem given that it's 1", threadless, and 26.0.

Anyone have more info about these?
Looks like 90 degrees to the sterering column.
The Landshark model I am after in this pic below is made up of two colors available, with the two halves swapped.
