On the green Helyett frame I posted a few messages back it appears that the builder may have employed fork blades for chainstays. Does anyone know if this was a common practice for the maker at one point? (frame precedes by decades aero tube sets & such)

If you like Turbo shaped saddles, you might try out a Reydel GTi on that bike, to give it some more French flavor. I have it on my Gitane TdF, in black patterned suede finish, and it feels really good, (very similar to the Turbo and the Rolls saddles in shape and padding) and looks really good too.....
bought two, NOS from a guy in Turkey, of all places, almost two years ago.... the other one is currently on my Peugeot PSV....
There's actually one almost new one for sale at eBay right now for 70 some bucks.....I think that's quite a bargain at that price for a Reydel GTi in VGC.

Right now the photo with the war memorial is my screen saver. When it gets warm enough to work outside I will clean it and probably list it here as minimal interest where I live. Very impressive, might have to find the male version in my size and keep it....

Always love the rear brake setup on these mixte bikes. Interesting transition from sloping too tube to double seat stay. Is there a lug or are the tubes just brazed into the tube that is formed around them?

The trench mortar had been captured by an Alberta Regiment back in the "War to end all Wars" during a trench raid. How they carried it back through the mud I don't know because the 81mm mortars we had when I was in were heavy enough and I wasn't in waist deep mud. It had been left outside since 1920 and was almost gone from rust. The town refused to spend money so volunteers rebuilt it. The addition of the correct shell to the barrel means water can't collect in the barrel anymore. I think they did a great job. I choose it as a background for a french bike because in France every village had multiple memorials and it was the only fitting background I could think of at the time.

Looks to be mid to late '70's.
Have never seen so much stuff fitted to a left seat stay: dynamo, tail light, and that black thing - whatever it is.
Chainset appears it may be Verot TS.
Our [MENTION=43980]CV-6[/MENTION] may wish to comment here...

B17 certainly would not have been original on a bike with an upright bar.
Head emblem somewhat resembles that of Rixe.
