I can't give you a positive ID, but I'll tell you this:
It has a variation of the style of fastback seatcluster known as "Brampton-Victor" or just Victor for short, coupled with the full-sloping crown one might jump to assuming a Raleigh Pro, but I'm not certain enough to jump, yet (you'd want 3 holes for the badge, not 2)
There were other British marques that did this style of seatcluster and had some kind of similar forkcrown: Holdsworth was one, Carlton perhaps another.
I'd guess it's certainly British and most likely 531 tubing and a 27.2 post.

I swear I saw the same frame chained to a tree at the bar across the street from my apartment last week. It was built up with Dura Ace components, but had the same paint and pair of holes in the head tube. It's a beautiful bike and you are assured of my jealousy.

Carlton Professional seems a very close match, and the serial number might indicate a '71 or '72, but did they come with all those braze-on bits and chrome headlugs in this period? The picture of the '72 (maybe a late '72) shown on that site have neither. The clincher will be to match up the badge holes on a Carlton with a badge.

Bikes: Several, mostly not name brands.

Looks like a Raleigh "Professional." Mid 1970s production.

thanks unworthy, it is the closest i have seen yet though. i heard from somewhere else it could be a carlton competition but i cant find any images on the internet. i hear that raleigh pro's have a cut out on the BB? so that is out of the question unless i heard wrong.

I agree with Unworthy1 and suspect this is a Carlton Professional, as opposed to a Raleigh Professional, purely on the basis of the chromed head lugs. I've never seen a Raleigh Professional with chromed head lugs and the Carlton Professional was known to have them in 1970, so it probably also had them in 1971/1972. The few Carlton Competition that I've seen did not use a fastback stay arrangement.

From: cambridge, UK

Bikes: Denti Scheggia, 1974 holdsworth super mistral as a single speed

not a holdsworth as the headbadge had the hols vertically and not horizontally like yours. the serial number goes across the BB too.
