If you really don't like the color, send it back. I do like that color a lot and could see it with nice blue cloth tape (shellacked of course) and maybe even matching blue cable housings. If it were more bronze, I'm not sure what accent colors I would use.

First, if the color was "supposed to match" the remains of the original color that was on the steer tube that the painter had, well then, you have a good case for a re-do.

If the painters only instructions were to do a "metallic bronze", then that was blurred from interpretation.
And often the paint in the can you buy, differs from the color on the chip in the book. Car painters often do what is called a let-down panel as they spray a repair. This is a flat surface piece that they can use as a guide for how well the color is covering and that the amount of metallics and pearls are correct to match the car.

So even if you have a solid case for a re-do, is it worth it?

Because the frame is subjected to a complete strip and re-spray, and the more you do that to a frame, the less reliable it will become.
So unless that specific frame has special meaning for you, find another one and have THAT one repainted the correct color.

Another, less complex fix, would be to (assuming their is a clear coat or two) scuff the clear, mask a panel & headtube, spray the correct Bronze basecoat over the rest and then clear the whole thing again.

OOoooor...., just find a different accent color than the one you originally had in mind.
RED might go well with the current color!? Or greens!

Just a final note, if you do send it back for a free re-do, consider it a nail in his/her coffin.
Any profit they may have eeked out of doing it the first time, now vanishes.
Granted, if they can't match a color that's right in front of them, then that's not on you.

Doc, this is kind of what I was thinking. If the painter was asked to match the color, I don't think he delivered what he should have. If he was given a vague color spec ("make it metallic bronze"), then he could argue he did his job by saying "I will get as close as I can," and "I will re-do it if you don't like it."

What I don't get is, why didn't the painter make a sample and send it to the customer for approval. For comparison he could have photographed the new color next to a cleaned area of the old paint, to at least show the difference. If the customer didn't like the sample, but it did match the old paint, that would have been progress in terms of nailing down the customer's requirements. That small time investment might have allowed him to say, "after we agree on a color, I would have to charge you a re-work fee if you don't like it." But the need for a re-do would be much less frequent.

Then again, maybe life shouldn't be this complicated.
