why do I have this image playing in my mind of some guy in an old Pinto stopping short in front of cyclist, causing them to hit his reinforced bumper. then he gets out and says 'sorry 'bout the bike, but you know my friend Kurt might.....' LOL

that looked like a nice ride.

Note that Raleigh never properly finished the crown around the bolt area of these things - the mounting surface is not flat, nor curved symmetrically. Virtually all sloping-crown Competitions you will find will have a bent front brake mounting post as a result; I filed a curved washer to offset the issue. Didn't particularly solve it:

If I might be quite honest, I wouldn't shed a tear over this frame. Not one tear. These Capella-lugged frames are often so badly built that it simply isn't funny. Some are decent, but few and far between.

I often wonder if the Competitions ultimately existed solely for the purpose of providing us a plentiful supply of TA Pro 3 Vis cranksets and Huret Jubilee drivetrains.

+1...I have a Capella International, and while the ride is quite wonderful, the workmanship is less so. The lug work is definitely not as neat as any of my other bikes and they actually used a drop out without an eyelet while the other side, and spec, has the eyelet.

Don't get me wrong, I love the bike, but craftsmanship at its finest it is not.

That T.A. Professional 3 pin is my favorite vintage double. New stickers are available for the arms.

I've been looking for one of those Competition forks for a long time. One showed up on eBay not long ago and it sold for $373!
If anybody's looking for the adaptors to put a Jubilee or Success on a Campy d/o, let me know. Somehow I ended up with 3 of 'em in my stash.

Make sure you add a big explosion and gasoline fed sheets of flames in that dream...........as it was a Pinto they hit afterall...........or if you don't like fiery violence, you can just change the car into a Volvo, which is appropriate in many ways I wouldn't really like to mention....

I'd prefer a Mustang II. Much more rewarding to see a Pinto go down in flames with Mustang badges (after all, that's what the Mustang II is).

Don't suggest a Gremlin though. They aren't that bad. Better than the Ambassadors, IMO.
