Given the "EF", I'd guess it's a Schwinn electro-forged.
Purely a guess that one of the Schwinn aficionados could quickly dispel.
It's definitely not one of the most elegant lugs you'll ever see.

It's - ahem - phallic.
That fact aside though, it looks as if it was cut from a generic blank lug. Note the slight angle to the socket at the front - it hasn't been filed off, or filed round. I can't think of it at the moment, but I've seen at least one other lug with this same edge to it, unfinished. Can't remember if this was on an English bike or a Japanese bike. I'd lean towards the latter.

Doubtful its electro forged... Electro Forged frames have smooth joints that look like Fillet Brazed frames until you pick it up and realize it weighs 35 pounds.

Very good point, I didn't consider that at all...I simply saw lugs and said "Nah can't be EF"but you're right, those stays do look quite schwinny.

The EF marked on the lug don't mean electroforged. A frame is made that way, or it's made with lugs. Not both at once.

Like I said, I didn't know. Thought it could have meant "welded by robots weilding arc welders". Less stress risers than an unshaped lug, but far from elegant.

Post a photo of the Durkopp hubs/wheels. I'm always curious about that brand.

The rear hub is still unknown to me. It is stamped with only "made in France" it is a flip flop and an aluminum track cog spun on the exposed side and left it's threads in the threads of this hub.

I ran into the guy I got the bike from and asked him where/when he got it. He said he picked it up about a month ago. He has no recollection of where he got it.
It also has CLB brakes with a red "racer" logo and a very, very old B17 saddle.
I will take a barrage of photos and put a link up.
I took a slightly closer look at the fork and it's likely the original from the frame. It looks funace brazed, high volume. The chrome is a fitted cap. It looks to be either modified or repaired however.
